"Nu-huh. Dogs and I don't mix," North warned. I frowned.
"What about Max?"
"Max is an exception."
I rolled my eyes.
"Well, then, you may not like my surprise."
His eyes widened and I grinned, opening the door. I'd been asked to take care of Karen's dogs while she and her family were on a camping trip, and the little puppy burst in. It was creamy brown, small, and adorable.
"Surprise! I'm taking care of Karen's dogs for the weekend!"
When I looked back though, North wasn't near me. He was hiding behind the kitchen table, holding his hands up defensively. I snorted.
"Are you scared of Fluffy?" I asked incredulously. He shot me a glare, before turning back to the inquisitive puppy that was slowly snuffling its way over to him.
"Fluffy?! It's a demon!"
"He's a puppy."
"It's a puppy of pure evil. Look at it. You can almost see the malice in its eyes."
I scooped the puppy up and held him out in front of me, toward North.
"No! Don't you dare Sang! SANG SORENSON, GET THAT DOG DEVIL AWAY FROM ME!"
I ignored him, and slowly walked towards him.
"Do you think I won't hit an innocent puppy? Because I will! Don't test me!"
The puppy was an inch away from him no, and North shut his eyes and braced himself.
Fluffy licked his cheek, and one of North's eyes opened.
"It's attacking me, Sang! It's attacking!"
"He is licking you."
His eyes opened fully and he looked at the adorable fluff bundle that was licking him. He smiled, taking Fluffy from me.
"He's actually kind of cute, isn't he?" North remarked, tickling the puppy's tummy.
"Aren't you cute? Aren't you the cutest thing I ever did see!" North had full on baby voice, fussing Fluffy.
"Now for the next step."
North looked confused.
"Next step?"
Fluffy leaped down from his arms and trotted off to a corner.
I smiled.
"Time to face your demons," I told him. "REX! REX, COME HERE BOY!" I shouted, as loud as I could with my broken vocal cords.
"Rex? Who's Rex?!" North asked as the Irish Wolfhound, Rex, ran through the door, and leaped straight onto North.
I stared as the dog started to claw at his torso.
"Huh. I guess dogs don't like you."
