  Chapter 10 (Scav)-

"Now, for our first match, Scavenger and Irene Karra up against... Layric Nightshade and Axi Delfex!" screamed the announcer as most in the crowd cheered, to go along with the announcer's attitude or something stupid.

"Chop chop princess, don't be late!" I yelled to Irene as I jogged towards the arena, clapping every time I said 'chop,' and laughing while walking into the arena.

"Hey, I'm not always late!" Irene yelled running after me.

We entered the arena and I saw Layric with crossed arms and that dumbo with the weird hat waving to the crowd with a ridiculous smile. A crowd pleaser, huh?

"What are those, goggles?" Irene snickered as she pointed out Axi's weird eye-mask.

"I've seen some weird stuff in my life, but that weird hat takes first place," I taunted Axi.

"Look who's talking," Axi eyed at my own hat.

"It's hard to look at myself without a mirror," I replied

"You know hats are removable right?" He remarked as he flipped his in the air and landed it on his head, prick.

"Ladies, you're both ugly. Now, shut up and let's fight!" Irene cheered as she drew her swords in uncircumstantial excitement. Axi and I stared each other down but didn't say anything more.

I looked around the arena; it's appearance was rather basic, a flat blue floor with white rings circling the insides, like the ripples of water if you dropped a stone in a lake. The sound of some machine turning on silenced the crowds cheering and chattering. I felt something begin to rise under me, the hell? The aweing of those in the bleachers interrupted the smooth metallic sounds that echoed throughout the room. I darted around to realize the stage was rising, along with the bleachers to keep them both leveled. This continued for about 30 seconds before both bleachers and arena came to a halt. Oh I see, so you couldn't escape the arena until the match is over, clever.

A glass wall began to rise above in front of the bleachers and went all the way up to the ceiling. Likely to prevent stray bullets, makes sense. Hope it works, otherwise, the hospital was going to be packed tonight.

"Fighters ready...3...2...1...FIGHT!" the announcer screamed through the microphone out of nowhere.

My SMGs suddenly appeared in my hand. I pulled the triggers and the the sound of two miniguns broke the silence of the stadium. Instantly, both Axi and Layric dove sideways and rolled into fighting stances. I fired in front of them which caused them to stop and jump back; their reflexes kicking in.

Click click. "Looks like someone is out of ammo," Axi said. I smiled, knowing he was wrong. Layric fired an arrow that stuck into the ground. Too bad I knew his tricks; I kicked the arrow out of the arena and watched it fall just as the gas started leaking. I fired the last bullet in my left hand gun, which was an incendiary bullet meant to light the explosive gas. Layric unfortunately knew my tactics as well. He moved his hand to grab an arrow then quickly drew his bow back to fire it. The arrow flew to the area infected by my hazardous gas with a whistle then exploded into water just as it impacted the ground. It took for a few seconds but, the water managed to drown out the gas before the flame could ignite it. This is going to be back and forth between me and Layric, I gotta do something unexpected.

Irene unsheathed her weapons; her Wakizashi a miniature version of her Katana and the katana itself. They had wicked blades, could probably cut through grimm like paper. The blades were silver with a gold trim going through the middle, black from the hilt down. It's hilt was it's typical oval shape, but it made it look...authentic. She struck at Axi with quick swipes of her swords.

"Hey, you mind giving me a hand!" scorned Axi said as he parried Irene's attacks with his Halberd. Layric remained silent like he usually does and I saw his thumbs flick the two hidden switches near the grips of his bow. Suddenly, the string split on the nocking point into two and both retracted into the bow. The rest of the transformation underwent within a few seconds. Next thing I knew, his bow was now two light green shining twin blades attached to a darker hilt with a square wristguard, which he wielded in each hand. I always kinda admired Layric's twin swords. They were like a cross between a katana and a machete, Not my weapon of choice though.

"Wow, and I thought I was original," Irene sighed

"So that's what they do..." Axi followed up sounding sarcastically amused. I shot at Layric and Axi, hoping to catch them off guard while I started to charge them.

"Axi, Split up! And shut up!" Layric ordered which Axi returned with a snare. Layric then propelled into the air and swung his swords over his head towards me while Axi went for Irene. I jumped back as Layric's blades skimmed right past my face. I spun my guns and they transformed into my hatchet and axe-head shield; basically a giant axe head used as a shield. I readied myself for the next attack; Layric began charging me and swinging relentlessly. Instead of blocking with my shield, I showed off by stepping back and taking one hit to my chest without flinching. The sword made a scraping sound as it crossed my chest.

"Should've expected you'd do something like that," Layric grunted. I swiftly grabbed him by the collar of his shirt and activate my semblance, by making a viking battle cry in Layric's face. My entire body started to double in size and turn grey and... rhino-like, making Layric's feet leave the ground. I bring the arm I was holding layric with behind my back, then toss him across the arena into a surprised Axi.

"THANKS!?" Irene yelled in confusion as she spread her arms, palms up.

"No problem princess," I said in a grainy voice. Irene looked at me with a confused and semi frightened look. Layric and Axi stumbled up and regained composure. There was a standoff moment as Layric and Axi seemed stumped on how to continue.

"So now you choose to show me your semblance," Layric remarked, half amused.

Surprisingly, Axi and Layric start to glow red and their aurameter goes down while Irene and I start to glow blue, meaning our Aura increased. Did she do that?

"Congrats. You officially took out the shield. Of a sniper. Who shoots...at long range," Axi dramatically dragged out the sentence.

"And it looks Like Scavenger and Irene take the upper hand in the fight with Scavenger's new rhino form and that aura manipulation move! But style points to that kid Axi's hat! I like it..." The announcer said in the stereotypical announcer voice, "Well folks, this fight...just got interesting!"
