Chapter 30 (Irene)-

I walked into Scav's room to see my little sister Eve asleep in the chair beside Scav's bed. "hey," I said tapping her shoulder.

"Uhh... Irene," she yelped in surprise will jumping in her chair, "Hey, what are you doing here?"

"Scavs my teammate, what are you doing here?" I asked, scanning her face to see if she was going to lie.

"Hey Irene," Scav said sitting up in the bed.

"Oh hey, how are you feeling?" I asked seeing as he was still in pain.

"Okay, I guess," he said dryly. BEEP BEEP. A machine started to beep very loudly while flashing. I look at Eve, who was confused until she looked over at Scav who had passed out.

"What's wrong with him?" I asked as he grunted in his sleep.

"I don't know," Eve said on the verge of tears, "He's been going in and out like this," She looked really upset to see him in this state, and I hated when she looked this torn. The paramedics rushed in and pushed us aside.

"You need to leave NOW!" one of the paramedics yelled ushering us out and slamming the door. I listened through the close door, to see if I could hear anything. The medic's were speaking, but I couldn't quite make out what they were saying.

"Eve, don't worry, he's going to be fine, I'm sure," I said as I put my hand on her shoulder. Eve just gave me a sorrow some look. She has always been the kind to freak out when someone was hurt, but she seemed even more upset this time.

"Let's go check on Layric, I think some of the others were heading to visit him earlier, he may be awake now," And with that, we walked into the room next door where Axi and Linena were talking silently on the chairs next to Layric's bed.

"Oh hey, doctors are about to kick us out I think, but glad you're here. How's Scav?" Axi asked as we shut the door behind us.

"Um, not so good; he just passed out and the doctors kicked us out," I explained while looking over to the unconscious Layric, "He's still out? It's been days!" I exclaimed with surprise.

"The doctor says he's looking fine overall, his conscious just seems to be gone; they don't know when he'll awake," Linena told us with a fake smile to hide the worry of 'if' we all shared. So Axi is here because we're all teammates, and Linena is here because of her feelings for Layric that have become apparent this last month, so Eve was visiting Scav- A little mental shock echoed through my mind as I put two and two together. Did she really?

My focus snapped to the more important issue at hand- Layric didn't look well, to put it elegantly. He had a giant bandage around his lower torso which was stained in blood.

"That's where...Scav stabbed him during their fight as beasts, it happened too quickly for me to stop it," Axi said in a low voice as he recalled the events from a few days ago.

"It's too bad their wounds didn't heal when they turned back," I sighed as I looked to my battered teammate.

"He'll wake up, he's not the kind who would willingly go out like this," Linena smiled as she looked to him again. My fear was, what if will had nothing to do with it.

"Hello! I hate to make you all leave, but I need to change his bandages and I don't think you'll want to be around for that, and it's getting late anyways," A nurse said politely as she walked over to the four of us.

"Alright, but please keep us updated if anything changes," Axi said as he grabbed his hat and stood up. "Don't rest too long, buddy," Axi looked to Layric. The rest of us slowly followed him out of the room as the nurse shut the door behind us.

"The nurse was right, I think we all ought to get some sleep, goodnight all of you," Linena smiled as she trailed off from us. I guess she wishes to be alone as well, since her dorm is right next to ours.

Eve walked with Axi and I until we reached her floor, which was the one right below ours, and coincidentally her room was directly under ours.

"Man, I hope they get better in these next two weeks, I'd hate for them to not be able to travel to the Vital Festival," Axi said as we walked onto Eve's floor. The vital festival! I'd completely forgotten!

"I completely forgot about that," I Commented, "where is it being held this year?"

"Atlas. I think," Axi replied.

"UHH," Eve groaned, "Mom and Dad are going to find out."

"Maybe you should've thought of that before you got kicked out," I told Eve.

"Shut up," Eve complained. Not soon after, Eve and I got into an argument.

"HEY!" Axi yelled. "Our two friends are unconscious and you two have not stopped arguing the passed few days. What is wrong with you guys?"

"I don't know. Irene I'm sorry I'm just really worried about Scav...and Layric," Eve said, pausing after she mentioned Scav's name.

"Eve, I know there is something you are not telling me and I need you to tell me," I said while giving Axi the cue to leave.

"I'm gonna head upstairs now, see ya later, Eve," Axi said as he made his way up the stairs, looking back before disappearing from view.

"Eve, tell me what you're hiding," I looked her dead in the eyes.

"I don't know what you mean," She looked away from me.

"Yes you do, we both know what I mean," I said, "Eve, I'm not going to get mad. No matter how weird it is, you can...like, whoever you want."

"Fine. I like Scav. Are you happy now?"

"Yes," I said, widening my eyes. Even though I already knew it, hearing it still came as a shock to me, "Thank you."

I started to walk away before Eve called for me, "Wait! Irene, please don't tell dad," She rubbed her arm nervously while looking down.

"I promise," I said, heading towards my dorm. Well. The Vital Festival was definitely going to be an interesting time. Trying to get everything by our parents without them asking too much was going to prove annoying but I would get through. I always did.
