RWBY (Salem: Dawn)

The Search Begins-

 Chapter 41 (Axi)-

I sat with team EPLN in silence, letting our worries getting ahold of us. I knew that silence wasn't what we needed at the time, but it wasn't like anyone had anything else on their mind. Scav, he may have been an asshole; but he still didn't deserve to die. Or...be kidnapped. Or anything like that. Point was, he didn't deserve this! I was bent on saving him, so no. I didn't have anything else on my mind. Luckily, Eve's team knew how to bring life back into what was potentially the most suspenseful moment in history.

"YOO! Guys, wanna hear this new-"

"No!" I quickly interrupted Leo, who looked somewhat hurt.

"What? Why?"

"Do you remember last time you tried using your guitar...as a guitar? I went straight through your window because you did the 'no dust' thing wrong and told me it was done correctly. We had to spend a whole day on lunch duty!" I reminded him.

"Well I did it right this time, I swear!" He promised.

"Still, no," I answered, "Even if it was done right, the universe would somehow still end up giving me the worst luck."

"You do have pretty bad luck," Polly admitted; looking up as if remembering some times.

"I 'recon we don't play that guitar now, okay?" Nevada said, pushing Leo's guitar to the ground and out of his hands.

"Fine," Leo rolled his eyes, "You guys are so boring. What do we do then?"

"I'd suggest sleeping, maybe?" Nevada offered.

"I agree with Nevada guys, we don't have a clue as to where Scav is at and...lacking sleep won't help us at all in our search," Polly looked at us all. I nodded.

"Yeah, alright. Sleep. And don't just say that you're going to sleep and then don't sleep," I looked at Leo, "actually sleep!" And with that, we all turned off the lights and closed our eyes- I hoped, anyways. When my head hit my pillow in the dark and empty room; I instantly passed out. I hadn't realized how tired I was! I hoped it was the same for everyone else.

The next day we took turns in the bathroom, taking showers and...well, we didn't bring much luggage with us, only what fit in our book bags. Before we left I told another team to grab what we left behind. Sadly, that was most of it. We only brought a few days of extra clothes and our weapons. Mine was a bit tricky to fit in my bag, but I managed.

With everyone refreshed I decided to bring us to FAEL's room; who were all waiting on us actually. Irene and Eve were also there. Good, everyone here; check!

"We're ready. But...where do we start?" Eve asked.

"Remember when I stopped yesterday? I know where they're at...did you happen to see that girl with the blue dress yesterday?" Irene asked.

"No, why?" Eve looked beyond confused.

"Because I did. I didn't think about it at the time, but there's a small mining area back in those woods. Perfect place for a hideout, if you ask me."

"Aaand, why didn't you just tell me this then! We could've gone after her!"

"That's why. Because you would've bolted right then and there even without proof. You aren't thinking logically right now, that's why we need everyone!" Irene said in a determined tone.

"Yeah, whatever," Eve's face got red, "can we go now?"

"Yeah. Everyone ready?" Everyone got up and headed down to the lobby. That's odd. It's the same desk guy from yesterday.

"Hey," I said as I passed him. He shot me a nervous glance; his reaction telling me he was doing something. I shot a light attack to his brain just to see if whatever he was doing involved us...he didn't move.

"Well, that's just great," I muttered once we were outside, "they know we're here."

"What do you mean?" Franck asked, glancing at me as we headed for the woods.

"You didn't notice? That was the same desk guy as yesterday. And well, he withstood my semblance, which was only a test to see if he was concerned with us or not. He failed...well, I guess passed; point is, whatever he's doing involves us."

"Yeah, I noticed it was the same guy too," Ecru said. Irene nodded in agreement.

"Well, they already knew we were here. If Irene is right, then that girl already saw us," Eve stated.

"True. Well, they know we're here. Let's just go find Scav," Franck said. We got to the edge of the woods and continued without much talk. We walked for about half an hour before getting to the mining sight Irene was talking about.

"Uh, Irene? If this is a small mining sight, what the hell is a large one!" I said as it hit the horizon of my view. The cave entrances were endless from my left to my right; the forest getting less thick as we got closer. Mountain type terrains were starting to surface from under our feet.

"I...I swear, they said this was only a small project!" Irene stampered, "Liars!" I had no clue what she was talking about, but I did know one thing. Scav was in there, and we were going to save him!

"Hang on buddy, we're coming for you," I said outloud, "but how are we going to find them in this mess?"

"We need to split," Polly said. I almost flinched at the idea. This was new territory for us, we weren't-

"DIBS on Axi!" Alyce said quickly. Like anyone else wanted me on their team besides her. I chuckled.

"What?" Alyce questioned.

"Oh nothing. Fine, I can be on your team. Nevada, wanna join us?" I looked up.

"Sure. Although, y'all better not do anything...weird, okay?" I made a sour face but promised nonetheless.

"Irene and Eve, is it cool if we're a team?" Ecru asked. I glanced at him to try and see if he was playing an angle, but everything about him was completely normal.

"Sure!" Eve said happily. Irene didn't protest but didn't look too thrilled about it.

"And that leaves us," Leo said as we all got in our groups, "but what do we do from here?"

Irene pointed down to all the miners, "There's people there. Someone had to have noticed something weird. Go find out. My team will start in the middle. Axi's team, go about a quarter mile to the left and start there. Franck's team will go vis versa but will head towards my team and from there we'll head towards Axi. If they didn't remove it for this stupid expansion; I remember there being a small village for the workers near that way," Eve ordered.

"Ma'am yes ma'am!" I lazily soluted. She just rolled her eyes.

"Just get started already."

Everyone with their teams went to where they were told.
