 Chapter 38 (Irene)-

"Hey ho, time to go!" Leo yelled as me and Axi made our way out the front doors.

"What took you two so long?" Alyce asked as she shoved something in her pink and black backpack.

"Ask the one who takes 3 hours to get ready," Axi said as he sarcastically glared at me.

"You're the one who packed everything last minute!" I responded.

"Still took less time than you," he spread his arms.

"Whatever, we're all here now," I sighed as we all grouped together in front of the school; in the early morning light.

"So when did your parents say they'd get here?" Ecru asked as he looked to me and Eve.

"Should be soon.. Let's head to the port," Eve said as she ushered us forward. We all walked on. We all took longing last glances behind us, as it may be awhile before we returned to Haven.

"Uh, looks like they've been waiting," Franck said as he pointed a finger that lead to a large black business ship that belonged to my father. Speaking of my father, he and Mom were standing at the foot of the ramp with a guard on either side of them.

"Whelp! Uh..." Eve nervously laughed as she tugged on her shirt collar.

"Are you feeling uncomfortable about seeing your family?" Linena asked as she looked to Eve, who was almost sweating.

"Well, it's been awhile and they've recently discovered some information I hadn't planned on releasing..." She said as we all walked slowly towards my stern looking parents.

"Irene, Eve, I'm so happy to see you both," Father said as he raised an eyebrow.

"Can you, um, lecture me later..." Eve asked whilst tapping the tips of her fingers together. Eve! You idiot; that's the last thing they want to hear! I thought to myself as I glared at here.

"We will speak as soon as you say goodbye to your friends and we're on our way back to Atlas."

"Say goodbye to who?" I asked as me and Eve shrugged at each other.

"You, do know we're only here to take you two back early; we have no intention of bringing the rest of them with us, what made you assume that?" Father questioned as his face tightened.

"Oh come on? Then we'll have to wait a week for them to make it down here, why can't they come along; It's just eight extra people!" Eve raised her voice.

"Do not speak to me that way, young lady. And eight extra passengers is a severe difference," Mom scolded.

"Difference to what, this thing could carry like, nine other ships," Leo interjected.

"Stay out of this, punk!" Father said through gritted teeth, making Leo have a somewhat offended look on his face.

"Don't talk to my friends like that!" I said, not letting Dad's ego go flourished.

"We are done talking about this, you two, on the ship now!" Dad said with the snap of his fingers.

"Let's give them a few moments to wish the rabble off, we're not monsters now are we," Mother suggested as if that justified their choice. Dad shook his head but turned around and headed up the ramp with Mom behind him.

"Five minutes, no three," He stated as he vanished behind the wall, as Jeff and Jim, my pilots, walked out carrying a large toolbox.

"Just checking on the cargo, Boss," Jeff waved to Dad as they ambled onto the ground with us.

"I think your Dad needs to take a break from work," Leo crossed his arms, "Hmph, punk."

"Sigh, Sorry he's always a jerk, we should've warned you, but I thought he'd be nice for once," Eve snared.

"Not to be nosey, but I couldn't help overhearing, what's this about?" Jim asked.

"Oh, just our Dad want's to take Eve and I back to Atlas without the rest of us, which wouldn't be a huge deal, but our friend is kidnapped and we need to look for him. No biggie!" I said with an exasperated sigh.

"Hmm, sounds rough, wish we could help, but he doesn't usually take my advice, even though I fly his ship," Jeff mumbled as he shook his head.

"But, what if we could help?" Jim smiled like he was getting an idea.

"Do you have an idea or are you just being an idiot again?" Jeff questioned as he glanced towards him.

"Uh both; we could stash them in the cargo!" Jim exclaimed.

"That's a horrible idea, and we'd get fired if we were caught disobeying him like that!" Jeff retorted.

"Get fired for what? We just checked on the cargo, saw the two girls talking to their friends, and headed back on the ship, unsuspicious of anything," Jim schemed, causing Jeff to sigh.

"This ideas still stupid, but fine, I can't turn my back to a kidnapped boy if what they say is true. I'll go delay the takeoff, you help them into the crates. And, make sure they don't suffocate!" jeff grunted as he made his way onto the ship.

"Thank you!" Eve said in a hushed yell towards Jeff as he walked behind the doors.

"Alright so, uh, let's pack you guys up!" Jim clapped as he jogged to the side of the ship; the cargo hold.

"Um, I'm claustrophobic..." Polly muttered.

"Don't you fight inside a mech?" Nevada questioned as he gave her a condescending look.

"That's...actually, I never thought about that," she said as she scratched her chin.

"Ok, I'm asking the elephant in the room, What are you shipping? It smells like shit," Ecru commented as he covered his nose with his mechanical hand.

"Uh...shit...and elephants..." He said as he typed in the password; opening the door.

"You can't be serio-" Ecru was cut off as an elephant's trumpet echoed through the cargo hold.

"Wait, why is Dad shipping elephants?" Eve questioned as she pulled at her hair.

"I honestly have no idea, zoo or something I guess. And the crates have cr... fertilizer in them, and some other items of equal disgust," Jim said as he propped open the lids of multiple crates. We all entered the room to see Elephants in cages and boxes that smelled just awful.

"We gotta ride in a room with actual shit!" Alyce complained.

"Well um, guards regularly check up on the room, so it's safer to get in the crates..." Everyone stayed silent at Jim's last comment, in the crates? Oh they're going to hate me.

"It's not that bad guys, it's just...soil basically," I nervously shrugged.

"We have to ride in dung, Irene; sugarcoating won't help." Axi remarked, gagging as he looked down into a crate.

"Well a, Irene and I better get back to our angered parents, see you guys in a few hours!" Eve said as she swiftly pulled me out of the room.

"You know, I was kidding about first class, but this isn't what I expected," I heard Leo say as Jim followed us out and shut the door with one final, 'good luck!.'

"I genuinely feel bad for them," I said as the three of us stepped up to the ship.

"Yeah, don't think we're gonna hear the end of this one," Eve laughed as we walked into the ship, and soon enough, we were off.
