Chapter 19 (Irene)-
Both Scav and Layric were shooting bullets and arrows at the vans while... "What, who is driving?" I ask with concern.
"I am," the driver said calmly. He was a short chubby man- no wait; faunus, with large ram horns.
"And who the f-" I couldn't finish my sentence because scav started yelling.
"MISSILE!" Scav yelled at the top of his lungs he then fell onto his back from the truck swerving. "Fuck, oh shit!" Scav shouted while standing up. He grabbed one of his axes and popped the bottom off then threw it behind us. The axe started to release an orange gas. He grabbed his other axe and twisted the bottom causing it to light up like a flare. His first axe created a large orange cloud hiding the vans from view.
"Good job, now they have a missile. And not only that, we can't see them," the driver shouted over the engine. Scav stood there quietly. His first axe came back and he flawlessly snached it out of the air. He moved the axe with the flare end toward the gas. He closed the gas canister and lit the gas causing a colossal explosion, more than likely killing all of the pursuers.
"Hey uh, we got an issue that's a good 100 tons of steel and it's really pissed!" Layric shouted while pointing up.
"Yeah I missed that part!" Axi shot him a look.
"FUCKING FUCK!" Goatboy cried out.
"What now?" I saw the Airship's shadow consume the road ahead of us.
"There's a weak point in the wing, Though I can't get an angle on it from here!" Layric yelled.
"I got this!" Axi started to climb to the bed of the truck but kept his legs inside, probably for stability. He fired three times- the shadow was still there.
"Give me that!" Scav yanked Axi's sniper out of his hand and somehow changed it to the halberd form as Axi fell forward on his face. He threw it at the ship which erupted into flames, crashing behind them. It blocked the road so if we had any other chasers on us they wouldn't be able to catch us.
"Do you just hate all of my shit?" Axi glared at Scav, now standing in the back as well," Do you see it in the air anywhere?"
I yelped as something sliced the seat next to me, leaving a maw in the roof, "Found it!"
"I think we finally lost them!" Goatman sighed with relief.
"Looks like it, pull off the road on the next exit," Layric said, sheathing his bow.
"Fine by me, I think I need to throw up," Goatman said.
We drove on for about a minute before Goatman pulled us off the road on an empty exit and stumbled out of the car. Layric slid out of the passenger seat and cracked his shoulders one at a time.
"WHOOO!" Scavenger shouted as he jumped out the bed of the truck.
"You guys are fucking idiots," Axi sighed.
"Who are those guys and why were they after us? Why did you kill them? Do you know what that could do to us? Why did you even leave? Oh and, why did those idiots try and ask me out!?" I cried glaring a Scav, a mix of feelings flooding over me.
"It's a long story," Layric said, pulling his hood down.
"Woooh," Scav said putting his hands up as if surrendering, "Calm down let me explain."
"HOW CAN YOU EXPLAIN ALL THIS!"
"Just chill out. First off, the White Fang, those 'peaceful' faunus' who are trying to get equal rights; which they don't deserve because they aren't treating us as equals, were chasing us. They were after our mole friend here, Garrett, who's not really useful in any way...at all. Except hacking, he's okay at that," Scavenger explained.
"You came to me for help," Garrett crossed his arms.
"Good point," Layric said, "But you asked for our help also." Layric turned to face me, "He was trying to get out of his jail he was stuck in. Not really a jail of course; anyway, we tried to cause a distraction, which worked well until someone was caught! He was followed and just happened to run into us as we were leaving. And here we are!"
"And as for those weirdos, they ran into us when we were trying to sneak away so we kind of told them you were into them," Scav smirked to himself.
"Whatever! Why did you kill them!?" I didn't care about the guys anymore, I was too pissed about the whole situation we just went through.
"Kill, or be killed," Axi said.
"You're just making excuses for yourself!" I yelled at him.
"And without the excuses, we'd be dead!" Axi yelled back.
"And you know what, without them," I thrusted a finger at Scav and the others, "We wouldn't be arguing!"
"Why tell me that?" Axi looked legitimately confused.
"Because we're a team! We all take responsibility. But we also all have to actually work together!" I turned to Scav and Layric.
"Well I feel like we worked together! Axi let me use his axe, and the flying death machine went boom! Teamwork!" He held up a thumb to emphasise when he said teamwork.
"Teamwork requires consent," Axi said.
"Thought you were on our side" Layric held up a thumb too with a fake smile, "See! Teamwork!"
"You guys are impossible! I'll make sure you won't sneak out again!" I tried to keep my tone level.
"And what's going to stop me?" Scav looked at me seriously.
"Claren will," I threatened.
"And how is she supposed to stop a five thousand pound Rhino!" He exclaimed.
"She did it already," I told him.
"I had no reason to resist. She didn't really have to stop me. You don't even know if I even stopped because of her," He argued.
"Wanna make bets on how long this'll last?" Axi said to Layric.
"If it weren't for our interruption, I'd say an hour." Layric said while leaning on the truck. I verbally sighed.
"Well I say a few seconds...and, I win," Axi looked at Layric.
"It was already over, you were wrong," Laric raised an eyebrow.
"Good point. And back to the movie, shall we!" I shook my head.
"Why did it have to be me?" I looked up as if asking God himself, "Still telling Claren by the way."
"Go ahead," Scav shrugged, "But for now, let's work as a team and get back first before we make any decisions like that!"
"Fine!" I crossed my arms.
"Back in the truck?" Garrett finally spoke over from the spot he was standing awkwardly in, trying not to interfere in any of the drama.
"Yeah let's hit the road," Layric got in the passenger. I got back in the truck where I originally sat and noticed something strange. It was actually pretty comfy. Axi got in next to me while Scav and Garrett got in their same spots as well.
Garrett started the engines and again, we were on the highway, probably going over the speed limit. At the time, I didn't really care. I just wanted sleep.
"Well today was interesting," I heard Garrett say, almost to himself.
"What, working with these idiots isn't always this exciting?" I said sarcastically. Scav didn't say anything like he didn't even hear me. He seemed deep in thought, so I decided to not bug him. Whatever would get me some time of quiet, I'd take. While I had the quiet time, I decided to close my eyes, and with time, I somehow managed to fade out of consciousness.
