Chapter 35 (Layric)-

"Alright, the gash in your stomach is fully secured, and your legs seem to be good enough to walk on now, but take it easy; I don't recommend going back to class until tomorrow," the doctor said as he scribbled on a clipboard.

"You don't gotta worry about that," I lightly laughed as I slowly put my feet on the ground. I stretched my tense arms as I put on a long sleeved white shirt they left me over the blue hospital pants I've been wearing for the past week or so.

"Oh before you go, it's mandatory procedure that you come back tonight at... 9:30 and allow us to do a check up on you, since it's your first time walking in a while." Great, I gotta come back here?

"Fine, I'll be here before ten," I said as I walked out the infirmary. As I shut the door I sort of hopped down the stairs; avoiding too much pressure on my injured foot. I walked over to an open window as I got off the staircase and breathed in the outside air. Finally, I hated being locked up in that medical room.

I decided to step out through the window and take a detour around the building, just to feel the sun on my skin, I am cold blooded after all, and the feeling of grass between my toes I found pleasant.

I made my way to the sidewalk crossing between the dormitory and the hall that lead to the cafeteria. The sun seemed to be in the center of the sky, so it was probably about mid-day; lunchtime. I decided to surprise everyone at lunch. I pushed open the glass doors and walked by the wall Scav shattered while going on his rampage, it may take some time to fix.

I peered through the opening to the cafeteria, spotting most of my friends at our usual row of tables. I tried to blend in with the crowd, but I guess a barefoot boy with a limp and bandages stuck out in a crowd of uniformed students.

"Hey, It's Layric!" Franck called out as I moved over to the table.

"Layric, didn't think they let you out until tomorrow morning," Irene smiled as I sat in between her and Leo.

"Guess they decided I could only take so much torture," I joked as I rested my arms on the table.

"So, you coming to combat class today...nevermind stupid question," Axi trailed off, everyone seemed to laugh in response.

"Well, glad you're back on your feet, bro. Crayfish really misses you," Leo kidded, bringing up my least favorite teacher.

"He probably has a stack of makeup papers waiting for me, fun!" I sighed.

"I-we're all just happy you're back on your feet," Linena smiled as she slapped the shoulder of Alyce, who was giggling.

"Oh Layric, you and Linena completely missed yesterday, we were just about to tell her about it before you showed up," ecru interjected.

"That was an eventful day," Eve sighed.

"You got my ears," I said as I leaned one elbow against the table.

"Well, it all started when we decided to explore the town the other day," Irene began to explain, "We accidentally walked down an alleyway, which led to a door filled with some sort of criminal get together, which led to them all trying to kill us, when no one was armed, except Ecru with his...arm. Anyways, there was a huge brawl and the boss bad guys ran away, the rest were taken care of though when Axi...used his semblance, Axi you'll have to explain how it works but, it made all the gangsters attack each other," Irene finished off.

"Right. So first off, you had the story wrong. Ecru saw these guys enter an alleyway and noticed that they were carrying military equipment. Anyway, the baddie leaders were this woman and this other ripped guy who I sensed with my semblance. They ran away, leaving their pawns to finish us; their mistake. In the middle of the battle the roof was opened by Airships who dropped off more reinforcements and...when all seemed lost...I, our last hope, saved the day! I used my semblance which is basically me taking over people's emotions. I make them have a need to do something they aren't doing doing at that time. Like if they're doing errands; I make them hungry so they all subconsciously vacate the area. I passed out because I used it on strong minded people. They were pretty determined to kill us, so I used all of my strength to get them to turn on each other. People doing errands; I'm not sure they actually want to be doing them so...it works easier on them," Axi summed up. We all got quiet as the bell rung.
