   Chapter 37 (Scav)-

I slowly opened my eyes to see that I was not in the infirmary anymore. I seemed to be in a underground bunker strapped to a table or metal bed. What? Am I in some type of chamber? I wondered as I struggled to break the clasps. I yanked on the chains to test them but of course they were solid. It was dark, but that wasn't a problem for me; even though there wasn't much to see anyways. I was locked in a room built on stone, and I couldn't see the exit- if there even was one. The stone was cold against my skin; fortunately, my rhino skin absorbed most of it so I didn't feel it as much.

I noticed they hadn't bothered to strap my feet down, so at least those were free. They probably thought that I was too weak to break loose anyway. Which was funny, considering that to the left of me was an IV holder. They were pulsing fluids into me. They were either poisoning me in the weirdest way ever; or they were trying to get my strength back. What the hell? Why would they do that, I thought to myself. They must be more idiotic than I thought!

I scanned the empty room and saw that my first glance was wrong. I was only on one half of the room. The other side...was almost a half mile away. I looked around in confusion, not really sure what the hell was happening. The last thing I remember was seeing Layric passing out right before I did. Then, I was yanked upwards by some cord, but what happened after that? My head started to throb, probably from thinking too much on stuff I wasn't actually conscience for.

"Damn! Light..." I muttered to myself. I could see an opening on the other side, and a reflection of it in front of me. I must've been in a cave with an annoying amount of water. Just, I didn't know what was in the water. Or how to get across it. Better yet, I didn't know how to get out of these damn shackles! They were attached to chains that were long enough to bring my hand to my face.

"Looks like I'm chewing my way out of shackles again," I muttered to myself as I started to eat away at the leather cuffs. They were tough and gritty, but they were still leather and after a good ten minutes, I freed myself from the shackles. I fell to my knees trying to gain enough strength to stand up. I finally got to my feet and staggered toward the water, but before I got to the water's edge, I picked up a rock and threw it in the water; nothing happened. I decided to rest for an hour before trying to do something stupid, like swimming in unknown water. After my nap I decided to make my way across the water as quickly as possible.

"How to get out of here..." I said to myself while looking around for...things, anything at this point! Something caught my eye as I looked towards the water- about twenty feet out. It was glowing a bright gold.

"One way to find out! I gotta get out here before I go insane...already talking to myself," I grunted, moving towards the water. I stepped in and instantly recoiled my foot. It was cold, like it cut straight through my rhino skin. Danm! Why is it not working? I had no clue why I wasn't being shielded this time.

Well, I couldn't do that yet. I looked over to the IV tubes and got an idea. Heat. How the hell I was supposed to fuel heat to myself? I had no fucking clue! But I was gonna do it nonetheless.

I found something in the corner that could actually help me...how convenient! I chuckled to myself...this was too obvious. It was a literal heater with a funnel. I grabbed it, stuffed the end through the funnel which I stuck through the IV's, and turned it on. I knew that too much air was poisonous to me, so I had to make it snappy. I stood by the edge of the water, braced myself by mentally prepping myself and injected the IV chord in me. I took a deep breath of air and dived right in. I opened my eyes and used all of my willpower not to close them. I swam to the light, which I realized was a switch type mechanism lodged at the floor of the water. It was only about ten feet deep and on a decline.

Before I got even halfway I saw something red- two of them! They were eyes. I flinched back and did the only thing that came to mind: I yanked my IV holder and pulled it towards me. Once I had hold I used all my strength and flung it at whatever it was. Holy shit did that worked? It seemed confused, momentarily taking it's eyes off of me. I quickly flipped the switch in the pitch-black water and swam up and towards the surface. I heard something above me. My eyes widened as I felt myself being propelled up up and up! I saw two things going towards each other above me and- I was going to splat on it! Right before they got close enough I hit the surface and flew fifty feet in the air at an angle and landed on the other side of the cave.

So much for the bridge, I thought before passing out.

Eventually, I woke up. I found what made me fly through the air...whatever was in the water bit my cords and the pressure propelled me.

"What kind of fucking heater was that?" I said as I stood up. I felt woozy, but it wasn't too bad. I mustn't have used too much of the air, so that was good. I looked to the water and almost had a heart attack. Whatever attacked me was peering at me from under the bridge. I shook my head and turned around to the light- I had made it! I went for the exit and heard...something. Something moved in the distance.
