Chapter 39 (Axi)-
"I'm already regretting this," Ecru coughed as we felt the turbulence of the ship making air.
"I think I found my issue; I hate being in closed spaces with others!" I heard Polly's voice echo from the crate next to us. I agreed with her on that, eight of us ... in four crates that Jim popped open before leaving us.
"Everyone got their crate buddy?" I asked jokingly as the flight steadied.
"Unfortunately..." I scarcely heard Nevada mutter. It was him and Franck, I think. While brother and sister, Ecru and Linena, were in another; and Leo and Polly in the one next to mine, and I of course was paired with none other than-
"Ow!" I grunted as Alyce's boot hit me in the Jaw.
"Omigod, sorry Axi! I'm just trying to get comfortable."
"Good luck with that, CC," I mumbled as I slumped back on the floor of manure only covered by a flimsy plastic tarp, that didn't block at the smell in the slightest.
"I really hope they don't do any flips," Frank anxiously laughed.
"I really hope ya don't need a cuddle buddy in the dark," Nevada said as we hit a turbulence bump.
"Ah, something's caught in my hair!" Leo panicked all of a sudden.
"That's... pth, my braces!" Polly coughed as the sound of the two of them struggling to remove Leo's hair from her mouth made everyone laugh a bit.
"You know, this is great...eight friends, hanging out in crates of-" Another turbulence spike cut me off, causing me to bite my tongue.
"Are we in a war zone or something?" Leo nearly yelled as everyone bumped into something.
"I did not entail this into my career as a huntress" Linena muttered as I heard her dusting something off her armor.
"I think I'm gonna vomit!" franck cried as the ship began to turn.
"Don't even think about it!" Nevada instantly replied.
We went between complaining and silence as everyone tried to keep their breakfast down the next hour or so. Eventually, Leo started poorly singing to distract himself and everyone else from the horrendous smell, but it wasn't very effective.
"Anyone know when we get to Atlas?" Leo sighed as he stopped singing.
"The flight's a lot shorter when you're not in a crate," Linena exhaled with irritation.
"We haven't had any guards come in at all, I think I need to breather," Leo exhaled as I heard his lid pop open.
"Uh, I got a bad feeling..." Franck said hesitantly.
"I do too, it's called the need to stretch," Leo said as I heard his crate lid fall to the floor.
"Hell, I need to breath," I stated as I popped my lid open. I froze in place as I saw Irene's Mom staring at us with utter bewilderment on her face.
"Uh, moo?" Leo said as he slowly crouched back down.
"See, I told you guys not to do it! Now we're going to get the hatch dropped!" Franck swallowed while staring at Irene's mother through the cracked open lid. She gazed at all of us as her expression went blank.
"Just...keep quiet," She said as she turned around and shut the door behind her. We all looked to each other before ducking into the crates slowly.
"So uh, singing's off the list I guess?" Leo rhetorically asked as I could almost sense the discontent towards him. I sighed before I made a suggestion to all of them
"Let's uh, just listen to the elephants."
