Kyle did something he never does, he turned on the alert for his e-mail before he got out of the truck with the kids. He really wanted to hear from her, he wasn't sure why but he really wanted that. E-mails were steadily coming in and he wished he could set it to just alert for hers. He hated using the stroller but he knew Addie would fall asleep at some point and she liked to ride in it. When she was a baby she hated the thing and so he would just carry her but now she liked the freedom. After checking in for the first appointment with her orthopedic surgeon, it was time to check on her progress on her legs, he settled Tyler down with his book. He sat down and noted the time was a 10 am, opening his e-mails he began to browse them, 20 new e-mails, he sighed and shook his head. He opened and deleted each of them, none of them had interested him only hers, as he was about to close out it dinged for a new message. He refreshed and grinned like a fool, it was from Rebecca.

He was about to open it when they called them back. He growled because he knew he wouldn't have time to look now, but moved to where he needed to be. When the appointment was over the nurse sent them down to Cardiology, that was his next stop and he figured he could at least read her e-mail there. When they got to that office they were moved right back because it was 11 now and everyone wanted to get to lunch on time. He held his little girl as they did the testing, and he felt like he had been slapped when he saw her oxygen levels were lower then normal. He knew what that could mean, anything from needing oxygen to another surgery. After they completed all her tests he was sat in a room to wait. He knew this part took a while so he opened his e-mail and read Rebecca's e-mail. He was smiling through most of it, except when he got to the point about the now ex-boyfriend. He kept reading until his heart felt like it flipped in his chest. She had asked about Addie's appointments and thought it was the most important question. She was amazing, what woman would care about a guy's kids she just started e-mailing? Of course she was a nurse but still! He was grinning like a fool when Tyler looked up and said "Daddy why are you so happy?"

He looked down at his boy who was the spitting image of him and ruffled his hair. He said "Just reading something pal. Don't worry about it. You just play with your sister there." Tyler turned back around was playing with Addie and her toys. Kyle grinned again and sent her a reply.

            Rebecca,

We really need to change that title line, it's getting long! Lol! I like that you got off topic, it shows your passion for what you do and I can tell Luke is special to you. He sounds like a pretty special kid. Addie's appointments ... the first one went great her legs are looking stronger which is great. We're now sitting and waiting in the cardiologist's office for results and I have a feeling i'm not going to like what he has to say, her numbers were a little off. After lunch we have lab work, pulmonology and geneticist. As to the responses, yes there have been several but i've only wanted to reply to yours, the rest have been deleted. I have a smaller family , my parents are still alive and I have 2 sisters, Molly is 14 and Lucy is 12. They live about 30 minutes from me so I see them often. I also have my best friend and foreman Greg and his family that are like extended family. Living on a ranch is like freedom, if things get to rough you can jump on the back of a horse and ride until your head clears, you can go swimming or fishing whenever you want. Of course there is lots of work to do but it's amazing. I love it! Texas has hot summers but mild winters, we rarely get snow, though we have a bad storm season. But it is beautiful and there's nothing quite like it. The people love to help each other out and treat you like you are family. I bet your sister is happy you are moving, when are you planning to make that move? Would you tell me what happened with the ex-boyfriend? If it's too soon i'll understand. You could add me on Facebook if you like ;-) at least there we could message instead of e-mail.. i'll admit i've been checking my e-mail often waiting on you to reply..

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Kyle

He really wanted to chat with her it would be quicker than e-mail. His heart beat faster as he waited not just for the doctor to come in but to hear from her again. Addie started crying and he picked her up to comfort her as she was rubbing her eyes. He knew she was tired but the doctor would have to listen to her when he came in, so he checked her diaper and changed her. Just as he finished the doctor came in, Kyle could tell by the look on his face it wasn't great news. The doctor listened to Addie and handed her his badge because he knew she loved playing with it.

The doctor looked up and said "Kyle i'm afraid the tests weren't all good. I'm seeing some more blood mixing than I would like. I want to schedule her for a heart cath in the next couple of weeks. We need to see what her pressures are and see if this is something we just watch for a while or go in now to fix. I called the home health company and they are delivering an pulse ox machine for you to take home. I want you to check her numbers 4 times a day , 1 of those needs to be while she's asleep. You will write in a journal date/ time/ and percentage I want you to call me next Friday and give the reports on her numbers. As soon as we get the heart cath scheduled we will let you know. This is not something i'm worried she needs to be admitted and monitored, just keep an eye out for symptoms. If she's more tired then usual, mottled , blue tint to her lips, anything like that you call me." Kyle shook his hand and waited for the nurse to come in with instructions. He heard his e-mail ding and opened it, Rebecca had wrote him back. It was short and to the point.

             Kyle,

Add me on Facebook Rebecca Laramie from Saddle Rock, NY .. i'll be waiting then we'll talk.

                                                                                                                         Rebecca

He grinned and opened Facebook to search for her, he found her fairly quickly and grinned when she accepted the request right away. He clicked on her page and browsed through her timeline. She was joking with her friends on there and seemed genuine, which he could already tell by her messages. He grinned when the little chat bubble popped up saying "Hi". He couldn't wait to really talk to her.
