Lonely Cowboy Looking For....

       Rebecca waited until he was asleep for a good ten minutes before laying him down on the couch and covering him up. When she was sure he would stay asleep, she walked over to speak with the doctor. She said "What do you think Doc?" He sighed and said "I want a new Echo. I've already sent down orders. They should be up to get her soon, then she will go to x-ray. Her murmur is louder than last week. She's sitting at 94* on her oxygen, Has she drank or ate much more since we last talked?"

        Rebecca sighed and said "Only a few sips, probably not even an ounce. She did eat a few goldfish crackers on the trip, maybe a 1/2 a cup worth. She's only been through 2 diapers all day. I heard her murmur was rather pronounced when I listened to her earlier. What are you thinking?" He sighed and said "I'm worried we will have to go back into surgery. There was more leakage where her murmur was last week. I think we may have caught this just before it became a real problem. Let's get these tests done and the results. Then we will talk options and a course of action."

       Kyle who was finally finished answering the nurses questions, came over to them and said "So? What do you think it is?" The doctor put his hand on Kyle's shoulder and said "We need to run some tests, an echo and x-rays to start with. I also am ordering IV fluids and some blood work. I went over some things with Rebecca and i want to make sure this isn't a virus or something causing her not to want to eat and drink. I think at the very least you will be staying a few days Kyle."

     The doctor excused himself to go put in orders and Kyle looked over at Rebecca. Kyle said "So what's he not saying?" She sighed and said "He's worried she's headed for another surgery." He said "I figured that was what would happen. Why do you look so sad Baby?" She slid into his arms and looked up at him with tears in her eyes. He kissed her softly and said "Baby, don't cry. What's gotten you so upset?" She smiled through her tears and said "Tyler said something earlier and broke my heart a little bit. It will be okay Cowboy."

        He frowned and said "What did he say?" She laid her hand on his cheek and said "He was scared I would leave him like his mom." Kyle looked as if he had been slapped, he looked down and said "I didn't even realize he remembered her. He was only 2." She said "Kids remember a lot we don't realize. I assured him I wasn't planning on going anywhere but I realized after I said it you have a say in that. We haven't known each other long and I don't have the right to make those promises to him."

      Kyle smiled and said "Is that why you are upset? Baby, don't worry, I have absolutely no intention of letting you go. I will fight whatever and whoever I need to for you. Haven't you figured it out yet?" She looked baffled and said "Figured what out?" He laughed and cupped her face in his palms before answering "That i'm hopelessly and completely in love with you. It may have only been a week but I knew the first time I wrapped my arms around you."

      Rebecca let her tears fall and kissed him deeply before saying "Oh Kyle I love you too. I love these two adorable children of yours." She kissed him again and he laughed and said "You mean these two adorable children of ours." She smiled and said "Yes of Ours."
