        Kyle was walking the hall when he called Greg. Greg answered on the second ring and said "Any word yet?" Kyle sighed and said " Doctor is leaning towards another surgery. We're waiting on the blood work and surgeon to call back. Don't say anything yet thought, I want to see what the surgeon has to say. How are the girls? How's everything at the ranch?"

     Greg said "The girls are sad and worried but hanging in there. The ranch is fine. How are you and Rebecca holding up?" Kyle smiled and said "We're fine. She's amazing with the kids. I'm going to marry her you know." Greg laughed and said "Gee no what a total shock that information is. No one ever sees that goofy look you get on your face every time you look at her or she enters a room."

   Kyle laughed and said "I don't know what you are talking about. But I do need a favor." Greg said "What would that be?" Kyle took a big breath and said "Go into my safe in my den, get out my grandmother's ring and bring it to me when you bring the girls to visit tomorrow."

      Greg said "You didn't even give that ring to you know who." Kyle said "Because deep down I knew we wouldn't last. I know with every breath in my body that Rebecca is the one for me. I'm gonna call Johnny too, have him draw up some adoption papers."

     Greg said "I'm happy for you Buddy. I'll bring the girls to visit tomorrow. Let me know what the surgeon says." Kyle agreed to let him know and signed off. Taking a deep breath he called his mom. When she answered he could tell she had been crying and he hated he was giving her more bad news but he said "Hey Momma. I know y'all are trying to deal with all the arrangements but I needed to talk to you."

     She said "Oh Honey you know you can call me anytime. What's going on? You sound upset." He smiled knowing she knew him too well, he said "Well Addie's numbers were a little off so we had to bring her in, they are running tests and not sure what our next steps are yet." She said "Oh no.. are they talking another surgery?" He sighed and said "It's possible. We're waiting on blood tests and the surgeon to call the cardiologist back. I know you need to be there with Aunt Mary Mom. I just thought I should let you know."

      She sighed and said "Kyle you know if our Addie has to be operated on we will be there. Mary will understand and the kids are all here now. They've decided to do a non traditional service. Basically a memorial barbecue because Luke hated funerals. It's going to be another couple weeks away because he wanted to be cremated and that takes time. She will understand our need to be home."

     Kyle said "If y'all do decide to come home be careful. There's something else I wanted to talk to you about." She said "What's that Honey? You sound serious." He said " Mom, I'm going to ask Rebecca to marry me, with Granny's ring. I know you're gonna say it's too soon but I love her. She loves me, the kids, the girls and everyone here. She has a heart the size of Texas and the kids love her too. I'm sure you will love her after you meet her."

     She said "Honey the minute you told me with Granny's ring I knew you were sure she's the one. Yes it's quick, what's it been a week or two? I knew when I met your Daddy we would be together forever. Sometimes you just know, I'm sure we will love your Rebecca." He said "She's amazing Mom. Hey I see the doctor walking towards the room i'll call you back as soon as I know more. I love you Mom." She said "I love you too Son, call me after you talk to the doctor." Kyle ended the call and went to see what answers the doctor had.
