They landed a little earlier than planned but they were both happy about the extra time. Kyle carried their bags and followed Rebecca to the waiting car. She slid into the backdoor that the driver held open and Kyle soon followed. She said "Something tells me your cousin arranged the car." Kyle said "Why do you think that?" She laughed and kissed his cheek before replying "It's so not your style Kyle. There would be a dusty old truck picking us up." He laughed and said "Nothing wrong with an old truck Darlin'. Speaking of trucks, the driver says we should be to yours in 10 minutes."
She said "Good, that should give us plenty of time to grab Lucifer and drop him at the apartment before running to town." He said "So this cat of yours, does he really swat at anyone that comes near you?" She smiled slyly and said "Not everyone, only men." He said "Sounds like we will have to have a chat then. He's sure not keeping me away from you." She started giggling and couldn't stop. Kyle said "What's so funny Darlin'?" She said "I pictured you sitting my cat down for a serious conversation." She started giggling again and he had to laugh as well. The driver pulled over into the unloading zone and opened the door, letting them know they were at the parking garage. Kyle tipped the driver and grabbed their bags, as Rebecca led the way to her truck. He couldn't help but grin when she turned and tossed him the keys. He tossed their bags in the back and scooped her up, kissing her deeply. Once he pulled back she said "What was that for Cowboy?" He grinned down at her and said "Do I need a reason?"
She shook her head and said "Never, you can kiss me whenever you want. Now I know I will have to put where were going into the GPS but I figured you would like to drive." He said "You know it Darlin' and at least it isn't a Ford!" She smacked his arm and pretended to be offended before saying "How dare you insult me that way! I'm a total Chevy girl!" He had to grin at her expression and helped her into the truck before climbing in himself. She put in the address to the cat daycare and started to scoot back into the passenger seat, when Kyle slipped his arm around her and scooted her closer. He said "Are you okay with sitting next to me?" She placed her hand on his leg and said "Why wouldn't I be? I've never rode in the middle before though." He kissed her temple and said "I like you close Baby." She smiled, turned on the radio, and said "I like being close Cowboy. Now drive so you can meet my cat and we can do what we need to."
He shook his head as he put the truck in reverse and pulled out of the parking spot. As they drove to pick up Lucifer, they chatted and she pointed out various things of interest. He was listening to her and enjoying her stories of growing up here. This place was a part of her as much as Omaha was a part of him. They picked up her cat and headed to her apartment while listening to Lucifer chatter from his carrier. Kyle started laughing and said "I don't think i've ever heard a cat make that much noise." Rebecca smiled and said "He missed me. Imagine how he would have been after two weeks!"
He pulled into her apartment complex and she showed him the way to her apartment building. After they let Lucifer out, Kyle poured him some food and water while Rebecca went to check her mail. Lucifer watched him from a distance and slowly walked over to him. The cat sat there watching Kyle pour his food and when he was done decided he was okay enough to nudge with his head to ask for scratches. Kyle grinned and scratched the cat behind his ears until he started to purr, before scooping him up and stroking his back. Rebecca walked in and grinned at the sight before saying "Looks like you two made friends."
Kyle laughed and said "We sure did. I guess he decided I wasn't so bad. Now the real test, come here Beautiful." Rebecca walked straight to him and laid her hand on Lucifer's back as she leaned up and kissed Kyle. Lucifer never stopped purring , and she said "Hmm that's odd. He usually hates men." Kyle winked at her and said "Maybe he knew they weren't the right man for you. He likes me, knows we fit together, smart cat you have there." Rebecca had to laugh and kissed him again softly.
