It was early February when Tyler first remembered Valentine's Day. He normally couldn't care less about valentines because it just seemed like an excuse for buying heart shaped boxes covered in lace and tacky cards. But most of all, everything was pink. Tyler had nothing against pink, especially when it was Josh's hair, which looked VERY good pink in Tyler's opinion. Kind of like cotton candy in a way, sticky, fluffy, and soft.
No the pink certainly didn't bug him, the problem was that he was married to a gorgeous woman with high hopes that Tyler her husband would come home to sprinkle rose petals on their bed and shower her with gifts. The unfortunate truth was, Tyler thought, that they had a show that day, and he couldn't exactly go to the show and make it back to make Jenna's Valentine's Day special. He rested his head in his calloused hands, feeling a wave of exhaustion swirling over him as he sat on the backstage chair.
Just then josh walked in, a smile twitching at the edges of his lips, his shorts riding dangerously low on his slim hips. He stopped when he saw Tyler so stressed, standing awkwardly in the doorway scratching the back of his neck.
"Josh next week is Valentine's Day."Tyler sighed.
" yeah I know, the holiday that shames us single boys." Josh jokes, pointing at himself, but can only manage half a smile for his joke is so close to reality for him.
" we have a show josh, what am I supposed to tell Jenna. She wants roses and poetry and I can't just let down thousands of people."
Josh began to understand Tyler's dilemma. Thousands of people saved their money for tickets, and planned their lives around these shows. How could Tyler just let them down? Jenna was also a huge part of Tyler's life, and choosing would be nearly impossible.
Then an idea came to josh.
" what if you surprised her ty? You could text her and apologize for not being there for her on valentines, but secretly schedule the show for earlier in the day and fly back home and surprise her." Josh said with satisfaction. Then, his happiness melted like candle wax, giving way to the despair of being absolutely and thoroughly rejected. He was organizing Tyler's fricking Valentine's Day plans for the kind, compassionate, lovely Barbie of a wife he had waiting for him at home.
Tyler's eyes lit up with joy.
" Jesus what the hell would I do without you josh. That's actually genius. Let me text her right now!"
Josh walked over to Tyler resting his chin on Tyler shoulder and watched the conversation unfold.

Tyler: hey jen ❤️

Jenna: ty I miss you more than words

Tyler: me too, me too

Jenna: how was the show?

Tyler: amazing, josh played insanely well as usual

Jenna: I bet he's sitting right next to you

Tyler: yes he is

Jenna: say hi for me

Josh snaked his arm around Tyler, snagging his phone out of a protesting Tyler's hand, and typed a reply.

Tyler: salutations

Jenna: josh give my husband his phone

Tyler: I'm back sorry

Tyler: what I wanted to talk about was valentines...

Jenna: awe what's the plan

Tyler: the thing is I have a show Jenna. I won't be able to make it home to see you

Jenna: but you promised

Tyler: I know Jen, I'm really sorry, I'll make it up somehow.

Jenna: fine

Tyler set down his phone and tilted his head to look at josh who had a gleeful look in his ever smiling eyes.
"She's bamboozled!" He grinned
"Agreed," said Tyler, "I hope she doesn't stay mad at me..."
