Josh knew his way around the hospital far to well. He wove his way past the cafeteria and through the children's wing of the hospital until he reached the hallway where Tyler's room was.
He groaned slightly because the bright fluorescent lights sent throbs of pain to his head worsening his headache from earlier that day.
He moved on down the hallway toward the door that hid Tyler from view. The door burst open to let out a crowd of nurses then swung closed behind them. Moments later a doctor burst out, consulted with one of the nurses than swiftly disappeared into the room
Again. The faces of the doctors were serious as they made notes on their charts, Checking off boxes and scribbling in the margins.
He rushed up to them his hands shaking, his mind no longer devoting energy to calming his anxiety.
"What's going on?" Josh burst out
"There was a surge of electricity and Tyler's life support was disrupted-"
"And?" Josh said impatiently, his need for good news causing him to lose his normal polite easy going attitude.
"And he's extremely unstable currently. We are working on stabilizing him of course but we have no guarantees..."
"No guarantees? Don't you understand? He has to wake up, he's all I have left!" Josh said, his voice rising, the panic that had been lurking in the back of his mind with his fears was pushing forward past his common sense.
"I'm sorry mr. Dun but I'm afraid we can't promise he'll wake up."
A few days ago josh would have cried at this news, but he found himself feeling less and less the longer this unbearable waiting continued.
His mind felt like it was full of cotton wool, his body went tingly then numb.
Suddenly a commotion broke out in the room behind the doctor.
A doctor sprinted out, his stethoscope bouncing up and down against his white scrubs.
Josh's mind slowed, he could hear pieces of sentences and commands issuing from the room.
"Call Stevens-"
Beep beep beep beep beep beep
"Where's the spare ventilator?"
"Code blue!"
Beep
"We need more people-"
BeepJosh turned to the doctor his eyes wide and terrified.
The doctors eyes only stared back blankly. His face so hardened by the deaths he saw everyday he didn't show emotion.
Josh lost control of his actions as his mind clicked into a state of uncontrollable panic.
He charged toward the door, toward the commotion, toward Tyler.
"Mr. Dun you can't go in ther-" the doctor threatened grabbing Josh's arm and trying to keep him back.
"Get the fuck off me." Spat josh his body straining against the doctor.
The doctor let go In shock and josh burst through the door into crowd of doctors and nurses. He had eyes only for the man lying in the hospital bed.::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
