As the door swung open it revealed the hotel rooms dimly lit plane walls.
Josh looked around frantically, and when he saw Tyler his body started to shut down. The fine mesh of his nerves stopped sending signals, he lost feeling.
His muscles gave out sending him crashing onto his knees on the carpeted floor. What once would have painful was nothing at all.
His brain once a controlled ordered system filled with channels and walls deciding and dividing now broke down the dams of thought.
Emotions trickled through the cracks forming in his crumbling soul, their raw power sending shock waves through his numb body.
There lay Tyler.
Soft golden light formed a pool of light around his head. His body was so still, if josh squinted it looked like Tyler was sleeping, dreaming.
no.
Tyler's body was crumpled in on itself. Ribs sticking up through a thin white shirt, one tanned hand's fingers resting on his delicate collar bones.
The vessel that was Tyler's body was as beautiful as ever, but the kind of cold empty beauty that felt wrong. A hint of what once was, faded flowers wilting on a long forgotten grave, shriveled remains of color.
His rose bud lips were parted, slight creases forming in their dusty rose surfaces pointing toward the dark gap between them.
The flush in his cheeks was gone replaced by a plastery pale skin color like a manakins.
His eyes were almost closed, thick brown eyelashes illuminated in the soft glowing light from the window.
Pills were scattered around his body, forming a kind of grotesque halo.
The orange and white pill bottle was still clutched in his hand near his hip.
Josh sobbed.
He could feel himself slowly withering, hot tears spring in his eyes, rushing down his cheeks, finding their way to his jaw, then down his neck.
Tight shadow fingers grasped his throat choking him with pain. His skin felt to tight, his heart felt to small to support him.
That ever so important organ beat out its aching rhythm in the concert hall between his fragile ribs.
It was too loud in his ears, the beating on going and defending.
Louder
Louder
Louder
Louder
And then it was just white noise, and a ringing in his ears.
Suddenly Someone switched on a light in his darkening soul.
It was Tyler, Tyler Joseph. The man he cared about more than anyone, the one he wouldn't think twice about dying for. If it was the two of them and one parachute josh wouldn't think twice about saving Tyler, even if it meant he would never see each other.
Manic energy possessed his limbs, and he stumbled toward Tyler, his breath returning in gasps of burning oxygen scalding his throat.
His hands shook horribly as he lifted Tyler's wrist.
One beat.
A pause
A second
A pause
A third
A pulse, ever so fragile and faint, like the touch of a butterflies wing.
Josh cupped Tyler's cheeks in his hands gently, and his eyelashes fluttered.
"Tyler?" Josh whispered, his voice cracked and broken at the edges. He croaked out the two syllable name from between trembling chapped lips.
Tyler's lips moved languidly trying to form words, but nothing came out.
"Tyler..."
"Just let me go..." was all Tyler said, his voice so faint that josh couldn't decide if he had imagined it. Like a breath, not a sentance.
"I'll never leave your side Tyler. Never."
Tyler stopped moving, the small signs of life fading from his frame.
Josh swore.
He dug in his pockets, death breathing down his neck staring hungrily at Tyler.
His trembling fingers couldn't hit the write numbers on the keypad, and he swore again when he had to restart.
9-1-1
"H-hello? Hello? This is josh dun, my friend-" here his voice broke and he had to start again,"my friend attempted s-suicide." Josh choked out the words like they were poison.
"Location?"
"The hotel on 24th street, third floor, room 322."
Josh's voice left him like a bird flying away.
He dragged himself up to Tyler's head his fingers digging into the stitches that made up the cheap gray carpeting.
He lifted Tyler's head into his lap, handling it like it was the greatest treasure on earth. It was to josh because it was what made Tyler Tyler, and that was a beautiful thing.
Tears made his face sticky and hot, his vision was blurred so he only saw colors smearing together.
He ran his hands soothingly through Tyler's cropped hair, using his thumb to try to straighten out the worry lines between his eyebrows.
His voice was weak, it cracked and shook terribly, sounded pathetic. It was so awful and depressing that sound in that empty hotel room.
"Y-you're an a-angel f-fallen d-down."
He paused as a sob wrenched his frame painfully.
"W-won't you tell us of the c-clouds"
Josh gulped.
Tyler's heart was barely beating, so distant josh feared he had imagined it all along.
The thought of this shook his mind with tremors of grief.
He stroked Tyler's shoulder lightly.
"You have fallen from the s-sky..."
Sob.
"How h-high?"
Sob.
"How high?"
