For two days josh stayed with Tyler. It was so odd to see his friend in such a horrible state, all the color had been drained out of him like a washed out poleriod.
The hotel room was their sanctuary, its once pristine finish tarnished by food wrappers, crumbled towels, and best of all the deep calming scent of Tyler. Tyler slipped between phases of sobbing, to laughing unstoppably at the smallest things as people tend to do when grief takes over. Josh couldn't understand how he could help Tyler, all he wanted to do was kiss away his problems, but it wasn't difficult to realize Tyler wouldn't want that.
It was like forcing to magnets apart being around Tyler, the power of the pull he felt toward him was nearly unbearable.
The bigger problem was their tour. Josh had posted on twitter that Tyler was sick, and had completely lost his voice, and that he wouldn't be able to sing for a week or so.
First mark, then brad and the other crew members came to visit, and each time Tyler would pretend to be asleep, his face gentle and relaxed, his hair cutting a sharp contrast against the soft cotton pillows on the bed.

On Thursday afternoon josh gently nudged Tyler awake.
Tyler grunted, his soft lips parting as he grumbled.
"Ty how do you feel?" Josh questioned softly, rubbing Tyler's shoulder.
"Ok I guess." Tyler said, prying open his eyes, and blinking hurriedly because of the brightness of the room.
"I wouldn't ask if I didn't really have to ty, but we've been off tour for a week now, and I think we need to start up again, for the fans you know?" Josh asked carefully, ruffling Tyler's hair. Tyler's eyes were still soft and brown, but just below the surface lurked the ever present scar of pain, and josh could barely look at him without anger surging through him. He felt like punching the wall whenever he remembered that Jenna, the woman that should have supported Tyler through thick and thin had betrayed him, left him to wither away and cry for weeks on end. The worst part was that josh knew he could be Tyler's person. The one Tyler could kiss on the cheek, the one who could comfort him in times like this, the one to curl against his tanned back on nights on the tour bus, The one to ignite the fire in his hands, and put the golden light back into his eyes. Josh felt the heat behind his eyes and he realized he was about to cry. No, He can't do that! He looked over at Tyler and witnessed and incredible change. His face hardened into a Stoney resolve, all the weakness and tears hidden behind a mask.
"I'll do it josh. I'll sing my heart out because I know that there are people that are far more worse off than I am, and I owe them what I promised, so I'll put on a show. I'll put on one hell of a show." He said, his voice filled with resolve. Josh smiled at Tyler, his eyes scrunching up, his tiger growl teeth widening into a bright sunny smile.
"I'm proud of you Tyler," He grinned, "you really are the strongest man I know." He said, embracing Tyler.
"Thanks josh." Said Tyler, a small grin splitting through his mask for a minute.
"Let's get you cleaned up!" Laughed josh pushing Tyler toward the bathroom, pure relief melting though him, it felt to good to be true.
