Will Solace loves.
And when he loves, he loves too much, too fast, too hard.
He falls in love quick, he falls in love deep.
He loves unconditionally, completely, utterly.
He loves so much, that his heart always ends up hurting and hurting when he falls out of love. He knows he shouldn't wear his heart on sleeve, because he always ends up getting hurt.
His heart always ends up on the floor, in pieces.
But it doesn't stop him.
He continues to love, but he always has that distance. He loved, but his mind deprived him from ever being able to commit fully to someone, because he knows, that they'll always leave him bruised and battered on the floor.
And even then, with him all broken, he still loved them.
He hated himself. He hated that he fell in love so easily, and so quickly, and so deeply.
Until he met Nico Di Angelo.
Nico taught him how to love himself again.
How to love without fear, without the barriers around.
How to make and keep promises.
How to kiss and laugh and cry and love all at once.
Will smiled, watching the unruly mop of black hair a few meters away, money in hand, animatedly asking the cashier for something.
"Will?"
He whirled around, and found himself looking into stormy gray eyes.
"Lucius?"
The gray eyes cleared.
Lucius. He'd been one of those who'd actually cared. The boys before him, they only used him, played with his mind, toyed with his heart like it was some puppet.
But Lucius? He cared.
Lucius took the bits of his heart and made them whole. He stitched up all of Wil's gaping wounds and kissed all his scars.
Will fell in love, as his nature was.
He thought that he had found someone who cared, someone who actually would stay, for once.
Until Lucius, whose hands hold the entirety of Will's heart, crushed it.
Crushed it so hard, so brutally, Will felt the physical pain in his chest.
It was sometimes better to have an already broken heart, than to have a barely healed heart broken.
Lucius destroyed his.
Tore a hole in him, it seemed as though no one could heal him.
"Yeah. How, uh, how have you been?"
The gray eyes were sincere, and Will wondered if those eyes held a little bit of sadness in them still.
"I've been.." Will trailed off, his attention diverted for a second when Nico caught his gaze, seemingly annoyed by the cashier.
Will smiled a quick smile, before returning his attention to the male in front of him.
Lucius turned, and saw Nico.
"Is that?" He said breathlessly.
"Yeah."
Lucius locked their gazes together.
"You look happier."
This time, a smile tugged at the corners of Will's lips. He was happier. He was happier than he'd ever been before.
"I am."
Lucius smiled sadly.
"I really hope that, um, we don't have any grudges or anything."
Will paused, and took a proper look at his ex.
Lucius still looked handsome. His defined jaw, tanned skin, gray eyes. Will had still loved him, even after being broken-hearted. He expected his heart to race, or feel excited.
But he felt nothing.
Maybe he'd really have moved on.
"No, we don't. I hope you're doing good too."
Lucius' eyes were so easy to read. One glance and he could see the anguish, the pain, the regret all in him, and the war raging inside.
"I'm doing good." With that, he patted Will on the shoulder awkwardly, and left.
So what if Will Solace hurt himself loving over and over?
So what if he can't get over it fast enough?
He'll do it, someday.
End.
