First Kiss

I knew I should stop staring at him. I'm going to get caught someday, and I know it'll never, ever work out, because Nico's my best friend and he's never, ever going to be more.

"Take a picture, Will, it'll last longer." The familiar warmth of Nico's gentle, creamy voice filled my chest before I registered what he actually said.

"What-" I spluttered, cheeks growing ever so warm, and my best friend laughed.

Nico put down his guitar, and looked sincerely into my eyes. "Hasn't anyone ever told you, that staring isn't polite?"

In contrast to the sincerity in his eyes, his tone dripped with sarcasm and playfulness.

Hasn't anyone told you that you're absolutely breathtaking?

"Hasn't anyone ever told you that you're annoying?" I retaliated, sticking my tongue out at him and he lunged at me, tackling me onto the floor in a fit of laughter.

"Surrender! You don't stand a chance against me!" He ordered, and I laughed even harder.

With ease, I flipped the both of us around, so now I was pining him down. "Did you forget that I play the sports and you sit on the bleachers?"

Nico huffed, running a hand through his hair, to get the fringe out of his eyes. "Are you saying I'm weak?"

"Maybe."

Nico's eyes glinted with something I couldn't make out. "Shut up!"

"Make me."

Our eyes locked, and suddenly I was fully aware of the way one of my knees were between his, and my arm on his chest.

And my face was very, very, very close to his.

Nico blinked, and my heart skipped at the way his eyelashes fluttered. "How would I do that, exactly, hmm?"

I swallowed.

I could feel my heart pounding against my ribcage and I wondered if he could feel it too. "Nico-"

"Shh." His voice dropped, both in volume and tone, as his hands knotted themselves in my hair. "You're really pretty in this light."

"Nico-"

The hammering in my chest stemmed from both fear and hope. What the hell is he thinking? What game is he trying to play?

He brought our faces closer in reply to my strangled protests. Was he serious? What? Why? When-

"There, that shut you up." He said, releasing my hair, and laying flat onto the floor, increasing the distance between us.

I laughed breathlessly, ignoring the ache that shot through my heart.  "Well...well played."

Nico sighed, before muttering a, "You're so oblivious."

And the next thing I knew was his lips on mine.

Early morning kiss

Light poured in, filtered gently by the blinds covering our windows.

I peeked out from under the covers, blinking rapidly at the harsh light for a few moments before my vision cleared, and I caught sight of the clock.

It read 7.56am.

Twas one of those days where I, Nico Di Angelo, defy the laws of Nature and wake up earlier than his alarm.

A rare occurrence, rather.
