1 Week later

Katherine's POV

'I'm just gonna go and hand my project in to Mr Varner guys.' I told them. 

'Oh, you've finished?' Daniel looked up from his comic. 

'Yup.' I nodded. 'Which means I forgive you.' 

'Yay!!' He jumped up and hugged me. 'Thanks K!' 

'You're welcome.' I laughed. 'You still owe me ice-cream for 2 weeks.' 

'I know.' He rolled his eyes. 

'And I've got something for you when I come back Nick.' I said. I'd bought him a present yesterday for helping me with my project. 

'Oh, something, huh?' Joe grinned, waggling his eyebrows. 

'Get your mind out of the gutter.' I shook my head in disgust and left the canteen. I went to my locker and got my memory stick out of my locker. I'd triple checked this morning that my project was saved on to it. I was taking no chances. 

I made my way over to the science block and entered Mr Varner's room. And he was kissing Miss Miller, the English teacher!!

That was a joke. He was sat at his desk, marking books. He looked up. 'Yes, Miss Calvin?'

'I've got my project sir.' I handed him my memory stick. 

He looked impressed. 'Wow, that was quick. Thank you Miss Calvin.'

'Yeah, well Nick helped me out a lot.' I shrugged. Best give Nick some credit for his hard work. 

'Oh right. Well it's good that Mr Clarke is helping you. Thank you Miss Calvin.' 

I took this as dismissal and left. I went back to my locker and took a box out of it then headed back to the canteen. 

'Here.' When I got back to my seat I handed the box to Nick.

He looked at me curiously and opened it. His eyes widened. 'No. Fucking. Way.' 

'What is it?' Joe asked out of curiosity. 

'A mini robotic hydraulic arm!! This is so cool!' He grinned like a little boy. 'Katherine, you're the best!'

'O-kay.' Daniel looked at him like he was a crazy person. 

'This would look great in my room!' He beamed. 'Thanks ever so much!' He stood up and hugged me. 

'Yeah, well, it was the least I could do for your help.' I smiled. 

1 Week later

Nick's POV

'Yes!' Katherine came bounding out of the science room. 

'What did Mr Varner want to talk to you about?' I asked. 

'Oh, he was only giving me my grade for my project!' She grinned. 'I got an A+!!!'

'That's great K!' I beamed. 'Oh, shit, sorry Katherine.' 

'Nah, it's cool, you can call me K!' She shrugged.

'...What are you saying?' 

'You're officially my new best friend.' She smiled. 

'Officially? I like that.' I smiled back.
