1 year later

'Miss Calvin, have you emailed those files to me yet?' Mr Parker asked.

I rolled my eyes. 'Yes, I have.' I then ended the call and put my phone down.

I was having a really stressful day. This morning, I'd had to drive to Calimov and sort out something with Mary.
I really hated her. She was the new CEO dad had been talking about. My first meeting with her was awful.

(A/N: This is a flashback of Katherine's first meeting with Mary Douglas.)

We soon arrived at Calimov, me and dad. Dad was taking me to meet the CEO of Calimov, Mary Douglas.

We entered the cool reception area and headed to the front desk. I was surprised to see Rebecca Hall, Nick's ex girlfriend there. She looked equally surprised to see me too.

'Katherine?' She said. 'What are you doing here?'

I smirked slightly. 'Well you see Rebecca, I have a job on the board.'
I didn't need to tell her that I had the power to get get fired if she stepped out of line. From the look on her face, I could tell that she knew this.

'You two know each other?' Dad asked.

'Oh, me and Rebecca go way back.' I said nonchalantly. 'We met through Nick.'

'Oh, right.' Dad nodded. 'Miss Hall, could you tell Miss Douglas we're on our way up?'

'Of course sir.' Rebecca hurriedly picked up the phone.

Me and dad went through some doors next to the front desk, leading to a hall. We went up an elevator and then a flight of stairs. We went through more doors til we entered a lab. People in white lab coats were working quietly.

We crossed the lab to some glass doors. I could see the spacious office and a woman sitting at a desk, who I assumed was Mary.

She saw us approaching and stood up. We entered the office and dad made the introductions.
'Mary, this is Katherine Calvin, our new board member.'

'It's so nice to meet you Katherine.' Mary said. But her expression said otherwise. Her expression said, "It's so not nice to meet you, bitch.".

I smiled sweetly. 'It's nice to meet you too Mary.'

She frowned. 'It must have been hard persuading your dad to give you a job.'

I frowned. What a bitch. I resolved to take her job, whatever it took. I would destroy the bitch.

(End of flashback)

Then on my way out, Rebecca stopped me. She asked me how Daniel, Joe and Nick were.
I replied that I didn't know, since when I moved to Greenpark, I broke off all contact with my friends. Because my career came first.
Then she told me that that her and Nick were dating again. It almost broke my heart when she said that, but I just shrugged like I didn't care.
The truth was, I still loved him.

I resolved to forget about Nick for good. He had obviously forgotten me already.

Then I was given a pile of work from Mr Parker, a member of the board and who was giving me on-the-job-training. He was a total arsehole.

I was still thinking of ways to get Mary kicked out, but so far nothing. I was waiting for her to do something that would get her into trouble.
Then I could take her job, easy.

Sometimes I wondered why I even accepted this job. I mean, it was good money, but the people I worked with were idiots.
