At college
Nick's POV

I joined Daniel, Joe and Katherine who were waiting outside the science lab for me.
'Hey guys.' I said as usual.

'Hey Nick, how are you?' Katherine smiled.

'Yeah, I'm good. You seem in a good mood.' I replied.

'I just had a good night that's all.' She shrugged casually.

'What did you do?' Joe asked.

'I went out with a friend.' She said enigmatically.

'A friend? Male or female?' Danny asked.

'Male. Not that it's your business.' She teased him​.

'Wait, a male? As in, a guy?' I repeated. 'Are you dating him?'

'Like I said, why is it any of your business?' She raised an eyebrow at me. 'But yes, I am dating him.'

I swore I could feel my heart breaking. Katherine was with someone else. Who wasn't me.

Her phone suddenly rang. When she looked to see who it was, her face lit up. 'That's him now! Sorry guys, gotta take this.' She pressed answer and walked outside.

'What is this, dating season?' I said sarcastically, letting my temper get the better of me.

Daniel and Joe looked at me weirdly.
'Mate, are you okay?' Joe asked.

'Yeah of course. Katherine can go out with whomever she likes, I couldn't care less.' I said bitterly. 'I'll see you in science.'

I sat in my usual seat in science but I couldn't bring myself to speak to Katherine for the whole hour. Her phone went off twice in class and she smiled when she read both texts.
I managed to get a look at the last text:

Stop teasing me angel, wish I was still with you at the bar xxx ;)

I bit my tongue to stop myself from making a sarcastic comment. Whoever this guy was, I already hated him.

'I thought you didn't date.' I suddenly remembered near the end of class.

She frowned​. 'And who told you that?'

'Daniel. Or Joe.' I shrugged moodily.

'Well... This guy is.. different.' She answered. A noticed that she blushed slightly.

'So... It's half term next week.' She said, changing the subject. 'You doing anything interesting?'

'Yes, me and Rebecca are going to her parent's beach house, which they've let us use.' I deliberately said, to piss her off. 'We're spending a week there.'

'That's nice.' She smiled, not seeming bothered which only pissed me off.

I kept quiet for the rest of the lesson.
