Katherine's POV

I decided to dress in something outgoing today. It was half term and I was hanging out with Hoffman and his friends today. I wanted to make a good impression on his friends.

I put on a short floral dress with matching open toed heels and I tied my hair up into a messy bun. I applied some mascara and light pink lipgloss afterwards.

'Mum, I'm hanging out with Austin today.' I told her as I came downstairs.

She frowned. 'Who's Austin?'

Shit. I realised I hadn't told mum about him.
'He's... A friend.' A hesitated at the friend part. I'd never had a boyfriend before and I wasn't sure how mum would react.

'A friend, huh?' She gave me a wry smile. 'Or a boyfriend?'

I blushed and looked at the floor. I obviously didn't fool mum.

'Darling, it's fine, as long as you know what you're doing.'

I looked up, frowning. 'Please tell me you're not about to have a sex talk with me mum! Seriously, don't. I know what I'm doing, okay?'

'Okay, okay!' She laughed. 'But if he's your boyfriend, I've got to meet him. How about you invite him for dinner?'

'Fine.' I rolled my eyes. 'I'll ask him.'

'Be back before six!' She called as I left.

I arrived at Marketplace where Austin and his friends were. When he saw me, his eyes lit up.
'Katherine!' He exclaimed, walking over to me. When he got to me, he wrapped his arms around me in a hug. I hugged him back. I liked it when he was cute with me like this.
'Hey Austin.' I smiled. Now that we were together, he didn't mind me calling him Austin.
He admired my outfit. 'Katherine Victoria Jasmine Calvin!' He whistled. 'Why do you always have to be so goddamn beautiful?'

'I'm sorry Mr Hoffman, I can't seem to help it.' I joked.

'Ever the modest one, are we Kath?' He said sarcastically.

I giggled. The rest of the group joined us.
A girl with blonde hair with blue streaks in it stepped forward. 'Hey, it's nice to meet you Katherine. I'm Georgia.'

'Nice to meet you Georgia.' I said shyly.

I noticed Natalie and Jessica in the group. Natalie smiled at me. 'Hey Katherine.'

'Hi Nat.' I smiled back.

Jessica just glared at me.

'You were right Natalie, she's stunning!' Georgia carried on. 'Darling, are you like, a model or something?'

'No.' I answered. 'I'm more into science.'

'Aw bless her!' She exclaimed. 'She's so cute! How did you two meet?' She asked, referring to me and Hoffman.

'At a party.' Hoffman put an arm around me.

'That is so cute.' She smiled.
Jessica was still glaring at me.
Natalie stood near me. 'Ignore her, she's just jealous.' She whispered to me.

'She's your friend, isn't she?' I asked. Surely Natalie shouldn't backstab her best friend like that.

'Oh no, we fell out.' She replied. 'Basically, when Jess found out about you and Hoffman, she started slagging you off. I defended you, so she went on about "where my loyalties lie" and told me to fuck off.'

'Oh, I'm sorry.' I said. 'I don't want to cause any discord between you and Jess.'

'Oh, don't worry about it, it's not your fault.' She shrugged. 'I'm sick of her anyway, she's a fake bitch.'
I laughed. 'Georgia seems nice. Though she seemed a bit sarcastic.'

'Oh no, she's genuinely nice.' She explained. 'When she's sarcastic, it means she likes you. She's the nicest in the group despite her bluntness.'

'Cool.' I smiled.

'Babe, let me introduce you to the rest of the group.' Austin said. He pointed to people as he introduced them. 'Robert, Samuel, Willow, Summer, Toby, Caleb, Abigail, Jessica and Ruby.'

The dark haired guy called Samuel walked forward. 'Pleasure to meet you Katherine.' He smiled charmingly.

'Yeah, yeah, stop flirting with my girlfriend Sam.' Austin glared.

'Nice to meet you too Sam.' I smiled, ignoring Austin.

'So Katherine, how's Nick?' Jessica said loudly. She smirked at me.

I stared. What was she playing at?

'Who's Nick?' Austin asked me.

'A friend.' I shrugged. 'And I wouldn't know, Jessica, he's on holiday with Rebecca. His girlfriend.' I emphasised the word Girlfriend.

'Rebecca? As in, Rebecca Hall?' Georgia repeated. 'Blonde Rebecca? She's in a relationship?'

'Yeah, with Nick Clarke.' I nodded.

'Nick Clarke? The nerd?' Toby chuckled. 'Wow, what a pair. But then again, Rebecca's really innocent.'

'Ugh, I can't stand Rebecca.' The girl called Willow said. 'She makes out she's so innocent, but she's a right slut. She steals everyone's boyfriends.'

'I agree that she's a slut.' I nodded.

'Anyways, are we going to just stand here slagging people off, or get something to eat?' Sam asked.

'Speaking of which, Austin, my mum was wondering if you want to come over for Dinner tonight?' I asked him.

'Yeah, sure.' He agreed. 'Why not?'
