Nick's POV
I got home after work, feeling tired.
It had been such a long day and I had a lot of work to do still.
I walked into the living room, where Rebecca was sat on the sofa, eating crisps and hummus.
'Evening Mrs Clarke.' I kissed her.
'Evening Mr Clarke.' She grinned. 'How was your day?'
'Tiring.' I flung myself into the sofa next to her. 'You're lucky you don't have to come into work.'
She rolled her eyes. 'Well remember that Mary's giving you the day off tomorrow, so you can come to the scan.'
'That woman is an angel.' I replied. 'The best boss I've ever had.'
'She's the only boss you've had Nick.' She laughed. 'I was on the phone to her this morning. Apparently she had a meeting with a few of the top board members.'
'Yeah, she mentioned that yesterday.'
'Did you see Katherine?' She asked casually.
'Hmm? No, I was out, at Mary's private lab, doing some stuff.' I said. 'You know, it's funny. Because I work at Calimov and because Katherine is on the board, you would have thought we'd have run into each other at some point, but no. I haven't seen her since university.'
'Maybe it's best.' She rolled her eyes. 'You've heard of her new reputation. I wouldn't want to mess with her. Once, she managed to get three people fired in one week.'
'Yeah, you're right. We haven't seen each other since university. So I don't know what she's capable of.' I agreed. I changed the subject. 'Anyway, how's the baby?'
'He's fine Nick.' She smiled. 'You asked me the same thing yesterday. And the day before.'
'Can you blame me?' I grinned. 'It's our first child. I'm excited.'
I put my hand on her hand which was resting on her growing bump.
I accidentally caught it on her wedding ring though, cutting my finger on the small diamond.
'Ouch.' I looked at the small cut. 'Remind me why I got you a diamond ring again?'
'Because you love me?' She laughed. 'It's only a small cut, stop being such a wimp.'
'Whatever.' I stuck my tongue out at her like a kid.
She just rolled her eyes.
