Daniel's POV
I went to Nick's house after he texted me that him and Rebecca had just got back from the beach house.
'Hey Danny!' Nick grinned when I arrived. 'How's your week been?'
'Yeah, it's been good. Hi Beck's.' I said to Rebecca. She looked annoyed. 'Daniel, I've said, stop calling me Becks!'
I laughed and turned back to Nick. 'I've just been to Katherine's.'
'Oh, cool. How is she?' He asked.
'Yeah, she's good. But she's been with Hoffman all week, so I've hardly seen her.' I replied.
'Hoffman? Austin Hoffman?' He stared. 'She's dating him??'
'Yep.'
'I still haven't met Katherine yet.' Rebecca piped up. 'Can I meet her now?'
'Yeah, sure, why not?' Nick smiled at her.
'Are you sure that's a good idea?' I whispered to him.
He looked confused. 'Yeah, why wouldn't it be?'
I suddenly remembered that Nick didn't know how Katherine felt about him. So I just shrugged.
Nick's POV
I couldn't believe this!
Austin? Austin Hoffman?
That asshole?
Did Katherine have a brain at all?
Hoffman had a notorious reputation for being a fuckboy. He'd just use girls for sex and then leave them.
If Katherine was serious about him, then she wouldn't know what hit her when he left her.Me and Rebecca soon arrived at Katherine's place.
A few seconds later she answered the door. 'Oh, hi Nick.', She saw Rebecca behind me and her expression became surprised.
'Hi K.' I said. 'Can we come in?''Erm, sure.' She moved aside.
We entered the hallway and she closed the door. There was an awkward silence.
'So, Katherine, this is Rebecca. Rebecca, this is Katherine, my best friend.''Nice to meet you Katherine.' Rebecca smiled. 'I've heard so much about you. All good things.'
'Likewise.' Katherine replied. I couldn't decipher her expression.
Katherine's POV'When did you get back?' I asked.
'Just this morning.' Nick answered.
'Cool. How was the... Holiday?' I added.
'Oh, it was fantastic!' Rebecca replied. 'Nick taught me how to swim and we spent the evenings watching movies.'
I narrowed my eyes. Was she deliberately winding me up?'Oh, how cute!' I said with an under layer of sarcasm.
I was definitely channelling Georgia now.Why the fuck did Nick even bring her?
Everything that had been said about Rebecca was true. She was pretty, polite and friendly.
Which only made me more jealous.'Anyways, we have to go.' Nick said. 'We're going to get Rebecca's luggage back to hers.'
'Okay, bye.' I didn't look at them.
'I'll catch you up okay Rebecca?' Nick said to her. 'I just need to speak to Katherine.'
'Okay.' She nodded and then looked at me. 'It was nice meeting you Katherine.'
'Same here.' I smiled sweetly.
Rebecca left and there was an awkward silence between me and Nick.
'Daniel told me about you and Hoffman.' He said abruptly.
'Yes, and? Got a problem with that?' I raised an eyebrow.
'I have actually.'
I smirked. Finally.
'And why would that be?' I asked bitchily.
'Because he's a fuckboy.' He said. 'Have you heard of his reputation with girls?'
I stared. If Nick was just trying to start trouble out of jealousy...
'He just uses girls. Why do you think he's got so many exes?' He continued.
'Because girls don't appreciate him enough?' I shrugged.
'Katherine, are you stupid?' He frowned. 'Surely you've heard of his reputation? He's a dick. Seriously, he's not good for you!'
I lost my temper.
'Since when did I ask for relationship advice?!' I narrowed my eyes. 'If I wanted your opinion, I would have asked! You don't see me slagging off Rebecca to you, do you?! No, because it's none of my business! Just like me and Austin is none of your business!'
'Fine. Fine!' He shrugged. 'I won't! But when he fucks you over, don't say I didn't warn you!'
Then he left, slamming the door behind him.'Trust me, you'd be the last person I go to when he fuck's me over!' I yelled after him.
It was quiet once he'd gone.
I ended up throwing a book at the wall in frustration.
Nick had really pissed me off. Why couldn't he just dump Rebecca already and tell me how he felt to my face??! Instead of stirring up trouble for me?I definitely needed something to cheer me up.
My phone rang so I answered without looking at the caller ID. 'What the fuck do you want?' I snapped.'Katherine Calvin, language!' Austin said in mock horror.
'Sorry.' I giggled. 'Just really pissed off.'
'Aw, why?' He asked in concern.
'Oh, just coursework.' I lied. 'Can you come over? I'm bored.'
'Yeah, of course.' He said. 'Anything for my angel.'
Looks like I'd found a way to cheer up.
