Chapter 6

I slowly opened my eyes. I was laying on the cold pavement. I sat up slowly, my head was pounding. There was a puddle of blood where my head had been. I must have got hit hard.

I looked around abruptly. "Derek!" I called as I stood up. I stumbled back into the car. I held my head. I was healing, but it seemed to be going a little slower than normal.

Leaning against the car for support, I made my way around to the other side of the car. Derek was shivering on the ground.

I kneeled down in front of him. "Derek." I said. He didn't respond. I put a hand on him he was ice cold. He was defiantly going to hate me for this one. I grabbed his arm and dug my claws into it. His eyes glowed blue and I felt his skin warm up almost instantly. I let go of him arm and helped him sit up.

He slowly brought his left hand to his left ear, exposing a backwards number five. I looked at him confused, however, he looked scared almost. What had those creatures done? He looked up and roared. It was one of this roars that echoes over and over and rings in your ears. No, I had misread his expression. He was angry.

I helped him to his feet. "Come on." I said as we headed to the loft. Derek was completely healed. He seemed to be unharmed, just angry.

The closer we got to the loft the louder the loft got. "What the hell is that sound?" All I could hear was deep pounding because it was so loud. Derek took my hand and lead me up the stairs. The second his hand touched me I felt this overwhelming feeling of him being on his guard. He thinks the creatures aren't finished. He slid open the door to the loft and the noise came full force.

The loft was filled with people wearing neon clothes. I could feel the anger rolling off of Derek. He walked through the crowd of half dressed, painted, glowing teenagers to the DJ. I followed close behind to make sure he doesn't kill anyone.

There was a guy in front of the DJ. He put his hand on Derek's chest to stop him. "Bro, sorry, The Bloody Beetroot doesn't take requests." Derek looked at him and nodded. He took a step toward the DJ. The security guard stopped him again. "Bro, seriously. I said the DJ doesn't take-" Derek grabbed the guy by his throat. "Derek!" I warned him. We are in a room full of witnesses and he's planning to strangle the guy? "He'll take mine." Derek said ignoring me then he tossed the guy to the side. I was too shocked to do anything but see it happen.

Derek grabbed the table with the DJ equipment on it and flipped it off the stage. The music stopped.

Everyone turned to look at us. Derek stepped up beside me. "Get out!" I closed my eyes as his voice thundered through the loft.

Everyone stared at him for a second then turned around and ran. I saw why Derek wanted everyone out immediany. Through the crowd I saw one of the shadow creatures. They stood completely still as the kids rushed around them to get out of the loft.

I saw movement toward my left side.

Aiden was with Danny helping hold Lydia up. "Get out of here." He said to Danny. Danny took Lydia and was heading out. "Find Scott." She said to Aiden as Danny rushed her out.

Everyone was still getting out. More shadow people apeared.

To my right Alison and Isaac were holding up Ethan. Scott and a girl that I had never seen before came down the spiral staircase. All the kids had made it out of the loft.

All the shadow people moved as one. I flinched at the abrupt movement since they had remained still for so long before. They turned to look at Aiden. They seemed to have black smoke coming off them.

"Guys, they're all looking at me." Aiden said. I could feel his fear. It was strong and a little more than fear, actually. He was terrified. The shadow creatures took a step as one.

"Why are they all looking at me?" Aiden asked alarmed. They took another unison step.

I looked up at Derek. Although he was no longer an alpha I still found myself waiting for him to call the shots. Derek looked around concerned. They took another step. "Guys!" Aiden said terrified. Scott, Derek and I ran at a shadow figure.

I slipped my shoes off quickly as my eyes glowed the cold blue they always had been and my teeth became sharp fangs. I ran at one of the shadow creatures. I threw a punch at one and he ducked so I spun around and slashed at his mask with the claws on my feet. He stumbled back as I landed in a crouch and growled at him. He turned to face me. I had left deep claw marks in his mask. It looked like I had cut all the way the through his mask although skin didn't show through the slashes.

I growled at him again and ran at him. The shadow figure disappeared into smoke. I stopped in my tracks and stared at where he had been, shocked. All of a sudden pain ripped through me. The girl that was with Scott screamed.

"No!" I heard Derek yell. I fell to my knees and slowly looked down. There was a sharp metal sword-looking weapon that protruded out from lower left rib cage. The sword was pulled out and I fell forward onto the floor, hitting my head hard.

Derek jumped beside the shadow creature that stabbed me and snapped his neck. Bone snapped back into place as if it hadn't been affect by a broken neck. Derek looked at the creature shocked. The creature shoved Derek so hard that he went flying across the room into a pillar. He fell to the ground.

Scott ran at one of the creatures and summer salted under a kick. He got up and swung at one of the creatures but they dodged it. He went to hit it but the creature seemed to materialize to a slightly different position. The creature shoved Scott so hard he went sailing across the room just as Derek had. He slammed into the wall.

All the creatures turn to Aiden. Isaac runs up behind or of them. He snaps his claws out and growls. The creature closest to him turns around to face him.

It seemed as if the creature reached inside his chest and pulled out a sword. The creature swings it around a few times and then holds still. Isaac glanced at me and then backs away.

The creature turns back around to face Aiden.

"Somebody do something!" Alison says. All the creatures are surrounding Aiden. By vision goes blurry for a second. When I force it back into focus. I see Aiden fall to the ground.

I felt a surge of strength. I got up and ran at the shadow creature closest to me. He must have not been expecting this because he didn't move. I jumped and spun in the air, slashing the creature's mask with the claws on my feet. It stumbled back as I landed. I didn't wait. The second my feet touched the floor I ran at the creature. However, another creature materialized in front of me and slapped me so hard to spun in the air and fell against the floor.

I righted myself as quickly as possible. I got up and tried to run but the creature in front of me shoved the sword in his hand into my chest, inches from my heart.

I crumbled to my knees in pain. It brought it's left hand to the side of my head and forced me to look into it's eyes. The creature's eyes glowed a dull yellow. No, it's eyes were a dull yellow dot. I felt as if my brain was being turned inside out. The creature drug his finger behind my head and let go of my head. There a dull sting behind my ear. The creature pulled out the sword and I fell forward. I felt cold and stiff all over.

The creatures turn around to face the rest of them. They slowly walk as one. Scott gets up quickly. His eyes glow red and he growls. He turns to face the girl. I knew the look she gave him. I had once given Laura that look. She never knew.

Scott turns back toward the shadow creatures. The one closest to him takes a few steps toward him. All of a sudden the loft was illuminated. The shadow creatures look toward the window. They all seems to disappear into their smoke then. They were gone.

Derek suddenly appears at my side. "What the hell were those things?" Scott asks. His voice sounded distant and echoey. No one answers.

"Your dad's twenty four hours are up." I heard Isaac say. His voice rang in my head.

I cough and taste blood in my mouth. I shiver. Whether it was from me being cold or the blood I wasn't sure. Derek turned me over. I felt blood run out of my mouth. My eyelids were getting heavier.

Derek looked up. "She's not healing." He said alarmed. His voice sounded so far away. I closed my eyes and couldn't open them again.
