Chapter 66

Derek, Malia and I headed into the woods. I had no idea where exactly we were going in the woods but I didn't exactly care either. As far as I was concerned, my part of the plan was over and I didn't have to be here; but I started to think about all the bad things that could possible happen. In the end I decided to stay. I may be angry with Derek but I still love him and I would never forgive myself if I left him unprotected. I got out of Derek's car. I walked around to Derek and Malia from the passenger seat.

"Their alpha is a woman named Satomi. She's one of the oldest werewolves alive. And she's learned a lot." Derek said. Oh how I so totally hate these stupid training sessions. "What does that mean?" Malia asked confused. I inhaled deeply. Just gotta stay calm and be patient. This day won't last forever. "She's a bitten werewolf. Learning control wasn't easy for her. She did something a long time ago that changed her. The quote is a mantra. It helps them with control." Derek explained as we headed further into the woods. Ah, yes. The mantra. Talia had tried to to teach Derek and I control using a mantra. It didn't work with either of us. I caught a scent just about the time that Malia stopped. "What is it?" Derek asked. Oh, I know exactly what that smell is and it's nothing good. Malia looked at Derek. "Gunpowder." Malia, Derek and I looked around. Malia touched Derek's arm and walked forward. Derek crouched down and picked up a shell casing and moved it around in his hand.

Derek looked up. "If Brett's pack is out here, I don't think they're meeting. They're hiding." Derek said.
