Chapter 48
Lydia was bandaging up Deaton's arm as I sat on the metal table. "I don't think he's just younger in body. I think he's younger in his mind too." Deaton explained. He glanced at me. He thought I was beating myself up over the fact that I was rolling in the floor screaming as Derek slashed open his arm. He was right. There was nothing new or out of the ordinary with that vision. Just the same. Blood and war. It was pointless and because of it, Deaton got hurt.
"He didn't recognize either of us." Lydia said after finishing up with Deaton's arm. She looked at Scott and Stiles. "And he looked like he was scared out of his mind." Lydia said. My heart was pounding and I didn't know what I was going to do about any of this. Everything was falling apart and I was losing all hope. And knowing Beacon Hills, this was just the beginning before all hell breaks loose.
"So if you're a teenage werewolf and you're scared, where do you go?" Stiles asked. Personally, knowing my teenage werewolf stage, I would have gone to the woods. But Derek wouldn't. "A wolf goes back to it's den. But Derek lives in a loft." Scott said. "No when he was a teenager." Stiles said. That's when it hit me. I didn't just go to the woods. Derek would go to the same place I would have gone as a teenaged werewolf in Beacon Hills. "The Hale House." I said looking at them. Deaton gave me on of his you-might-be-onto-something looks. "He wouldn't remember the fire. It wouldn't have happened yet." Deaton said. "Well, I guess he's about to find out." I said jumping off the table. "I'll go to the house. He might remember me and I can try to help him." I said walking out of the room.

I just stared at the pile of burnt wood that was once the Hale House. The land was going to be used to build a subdivision I think is what I had heard. A lot of the surrounding trees had been cleared and the area was fenced off. The fencing on the front hate had been pulled back and Derek's scent was pretty strong here. He had been here recently but there were other scents here what were just as recent.
From what I could pick up from Derek's scent he was confused and overwhelmed but mostly scared. There had been some sort of struggle here between Derek and one other person. But there was just alarm from the third scent. The scent was familiar but I wasn't sure where I had smelled it before.
I jumped when my phone vibrated. I reached into my pocket and answered it. "Hello?" I answered it not really focussing on the phone rather than the scents. "Stiles's dad just called. Derek's at the police station." Scott said. The police station. I had smelled that scent at the police station before but I don't remember who it belongs to. "Okay, I'll be right there." I said kind of dazed and hung up the phone.

I walked through the front door of the police station. I had run to the loft and got my car because even though I was more than capable of running everywhere I needed to I rather not. It's a bit less suspicious than running faster than the average car in broad daylight where everyone could see me.
"Eva." I turned to see Sheriff Stilinski in the doorway. "She's with me." He said to the deputy at the front desk. I smiled at the deputy and he nodded. Stilinski lead me through the door and into the room was all the deputy desks.
"They're in there." He said looking over at his office. I saw Scott and Stiles who looked like they were interrogating Derek. "Do you know what's happening?" He asked me in a low voice. I shook my head. "All I know is that when we found him that way. He doesn't remember anything other than what happened to him up to that age." I explained. "Does he remember you?" Stilinski asked. I nodded. "Think so." I said tiredly.
He put a hand on my shoulder. "I know this situation looks unresolvable but have some faith. They always figure something out." I looked up at him confused. "I'm Sheriff for a reason." He patted my shoulder. "Good luck." He said before walking away.
