Chapter 17
I was beside Derek who was between me and Chris, in the police station, sitting on a bench...handcuffed. I was beginning to understand why Scott wasn't too fond of his dad.
Derek and Chris couldn't sit still and every time they moved the handcuffs would clank against the rod. And if I wasn't handcuffed too I would knock them out.
"So, I don't suppose either of you have any idea why Stiles would frame us for murder?" Chris asked. I tilted my head back, looking at the ceiling, and exhaled. We hadn't been here too long but my back already hurt. "I didn't think Stiles was smart enough to frame us for murder." Derek said smartly. Of course he is smart enough Derek. He makes up most of our plans. "To be honest, I'm not entirely convinced that's why we're here." Chris remarked. I looked at him and cocked my head to the side, mostly so I could see him past a very large Derek. "What do you mean?" I ask.
"McCall is going to come out here any minute and probably talk attorneys." Derek looked down. Great, neither Derek nor I have a attorney and it's not like we can ride that off. "Say you two have agreed to allow mine to represent you." Chris said to us. Never mind, problem solved.
"Why should I trust your attorney?" Derek asked him. Oh come on Derek. I get you have an ax to grind with the Argent race but get over it. We can't fight the impending supernatural evil in jail. Chris looked at him aggravated. "Because I'm not calling my attorney yet. I just want more time." Chris said. Time to sit here on an uncomfortable bench? "To do what?" I demanded. "To figure out what we're really doing here." Chris said.
The three of us looked around at the various desks and deputies scattered across the room. I'm not too sure how Chris plans to find anything out while we're glued to a bench and are being constantly watched by just about everyone in the department but it's Chris, who knows?
"Eva, what were you doing when I walked into my apartment?" Chris asked me. Oh, that whole experience must have been kind of strange. I just randomly walked in on him and Derek. I leaned across Derek so I wouldn't have I say it too loud. There was already a little bit of evidence that we killed yukahoby, or whatever he was called, we didn't need anymore. "I was hiding a bag a weapons. Thought they might be useful." I said quietly across Derek. "Where did you hide them?" Chris asked. All three of us watched as a deputy walked past us. "Under Alison's bed." I'm sure he was going to call her and tell her what was going on so she might as well know that there are extremely lethal weapons under her while she sleeps.
The three of us were quiet for a long time until Derek started moving again and the handcuffs started clanking. He was getting anxious and very fidgety. Derek twisted around his wrist and looked at the handcuffs. "I could easily get out of these, you know." Derek said. I rolled my eyes. Yes, and then that could be a huge problem. "So could I. So could Eva. But I'm not interested in being a fugitive from the law." Chris said. And neither am I.
"Well, I'm not interested in being a victim to a 17-year-old possessed by a psychotic fox." Derek told him angrily. He needed to chill out. "And you think me and Chris are?" I snapped angrily. "Just give me a few more minutes." Chris said. Derek began twisting the handcuffs. "Derek!" Chris warned as I kicked him pretty hard. Derek put his hand back in the bench. He huffed. "Okay, fine." He said not happy whatsoever.
"If something happens, don't expect me to risk my life to save yours." Derek told Chris. I couldn't take it anymore. "And when we get out of these handcuffs don't expect me to not beat you both senseless for having to endure hours of you two bickering." I snapped furiously.
Neither of them said a word. They barley moved. We must have been sitting here for a good couple of hours. Why can't McCall get this done and over with?
A phone was slammed down and I jumped. A deputy ran across the room. Everyone was running around. The three of us looked at each other confused.
A deputy ran up to us and began getting us out of our handcuffs as fast as he could. "What's happening?" Chris demanded. I suddenly heard a noise. A strange electrical noise. "Derek." I said quietly as I turned behind us. Derek heard it too because he was now looking at the office behind us as well. It was getting louder and more rapid. Derek turned to Chris. "Get down!" Derek yelled. I broke make handcuffs, grabbed the deputy and shoved him out of the way. Derek snapped his handcuff closest to me and grabbed Chris. He pulled him down and shielded Chris's body with his. I ducked just as the bomb went off.
