Chapter 21

Derek, Chris and I were standing in front of a desk. A deputy was messing with some of Argents weapons that he had obtained . He flipped out one of the taser and eyed us.

"Sorry, but I can't let you walk out with this. It's way above the legal voltage limit." He informed us. He was suspicious and Chris's extremely unusual weapons weren't helping any. "I only use it for hunting." Chris explained trying to make since of why he had such strange weapons. Yeah, that doesn't sound suspicious. A taser with that power would probably be used on elephants. Derek looked at him and clenched his jaw. Derek and Chris had been getting along fairly well but that doesn't change the past or what they were. I put my arm around Derek's waist and squeezed. He seemed to relax a little.

"Yeah, well, I'm pretty sure you could use it to jump-start a 747." The deputy said. I'm assuming that's a vehicle but I've never been interested in that stuff. "This property belongs to me and the charges were dropped." He said to the deputy. He turned to Derek and me. "Although, I'm not exactly sure who's responsible for that." Chris said. Yeah, the hole thing is a little strange and abrupt.

"I am." Sheriff Stilinski said walking in. He looked at the deputy. "I'll take care of this, Parrish." He said. He dropped the charges? Why? "Sheriff, I'm not kidding. This thing's a few watts from being a lightsaber. And your going to take your chances on Bonnie and Clyde and their sidekick, the Hunter?" Parrish questioned. Bonnie and Clyde? Not hardly. The Hunter? Very accurate? Stilinski took the taser. "I said I'll take care of it." He insisted forcefully.

Parrish left reluctantly and Stilinski took his place. He tapped his desk. "The specialist I saw in LA told me the thing that every doctor says when he's trying to avoid a lawsuit. 'We can't say for sure'. And then I spoke with Melissa. These are brain scans. My wife's and Stiles's." He pulled out strangely colored x-rays of two brains. He laid them on top of each other and handed them of Chris. "I knew they were similar." Chris lined them up. "But those are the same. Exactly the same." He was right. There wasn't one different colored part on one that didn't line up with the other.

"And I'm guessing this isn't possible?" Derek said. I shook my head. There was no way even if the two people were related. "Not even remotely." Stilinski shook his head. "So the trickster is still playing tricks." Chris said putting the pictures on the desk. "I have to hand it to him. It was a good trick but it does have its flaws." I pointed out. Derek crossed his arms.

"But why this trick?" Derek questioned. Why the exact same picture? He thinks we're stupid. We could use that to our advantage. "When I was in the Army, an officer told me, "If you want to defeat your enemy, you don't take away their courage. You take away their hope." Stilinski said.

"You don't look like a man who gives up hope easily." Chris said. He doesn't. I had heard about the eight year old case about the werecoyote girl that he had continued. "But Stiles might." Stilinski said. I nodded. He would. I had heard bits and pieces of a conversation he had had with an unconscious Cora when we had been trapped in the hospital.

"If this thing inside him, if it's using his mother's disease as some sort of psychological trick, then this isn't just a fight for his body. It's also a fight for his mind. Right?" He asked. I nodded. "Just because something has control of a body doesn't mean the controlled couldn't psychologically gain control of they body again." I pointed out. Stiles would be able to do that.

"You know, he's left people severely injured." Chris said. "And others severely dead." Derek said. They looked at each other. I knew exactly what they were thinking. "And I don't severely care. You both know that I've done those things too. It's not an option and you both know it." I snapped.

"That's why I need the three of you. I need people who are experienced in this kind of thing. I need you to help me stop him." Stilinski said. I will not allow them to kill Stiles. If they kill him they might as well kill me too.

"And by stop him, you mean trap him." Chris said. Stilinski nodded. He picked up one the tasers off of his desk and handed it to Chris. Chris took it. Stiliwki and Chris made a silent agreement.

But I made an agreement with myself. I will die before I will let them kill Stiles.
