Chapter 92
Chris acted quickly and began to set up alarms across the building so that we would know when someone came into the building. Shortly after he began setting them us, Braeden and Derek walked in. Derek and I didn't say anything. We acknowledged each other by a nod and that was it. Strangely, that didn't upset me one bit. It seemed natural.
Braeden was loading her guns. "They'll be okay." Scott said to us. "They've got claws and fangs. But they're not fighters." Derek said walking past him. I glanced at the scared wolves. "They don't seem like they're us for a fight." I commented. No they just looked like scared little children. "That's why I called you two." Scott told me and Derek. "Well, try to remember I don't have claws and fangs anymore either." Derek said going to stand beside Braeden. I felt no trace of jealously. Strange how things change so fast. "That's why he called me." Braeden said smugly.
"Am I the only one still hoping this is all just a false alarm? I mean, it's possible we could wait here all night and nothing happens. Right?" Kira said. Cold feet. Normal before a battle. I had had them before. Just before we went up against the Nogitsune. That seemed like years ago.
"Scott, you heard anything from Stiles or Lydia yet?" Braeden asked. I realized then that Braeden's scars on her neck were just like the ones on my thighs. It was a stupid realization because they had been coughed by the same thing, an angry alpha, but I had truthful never realized it. "Lydia's still talking to Meredith. Stiles and Malia are headed to the lake house. They're trying to stop it." Scott told us. The possibility of the dead pool ending seemed too good to be true. "What if there is no stopping it? What if it doesn't end until we're all dead?" Brett questioned. What if? What if? Wasn't that what everyone was thinking. No one said anything for a long time.
"Then let's send a message. Let's make something perfectly clear to anyone with a copy of that list. It doesn't matter if they're professional assassins, hunters, or an amateur who just picked up a gun." Derek said turning around with his gun in his hand. "Anyone who thinks they can hunt or kill us for money, is gonna be put on another list. Our list. They get to be a name on our dead pool." Braeden cocked her gun.
