Chapter 40
I opened my eyes. Everything was so much brighter now and my head hurt a little more than it did the last time I got knocked out. Maybe because I wasn't completely better before it happened again. I moaned and turned my head to the side.
"Eva." I heard Scott say my name. I opened my eyes. Scott was the first thing I saw. He was sitting in a chair but he was turning around in a way that looked extremely uncomfortable. I have him a weird look.
I looked past him and forced the headache out and my vision to clear. That's when the rest of the room came into focus. Scott was chained to the chair and had electrical cords connected to him. A man had Kira by the arm in a corner. She looked so scared. I glared at him and growled. He smiled at me.
I so desperately wanted to tear something apart and I was more than happy for that to be him. He was the one that had tasered me until I blacked out. I made a move to get up but I couldn't. Metal dug into my skin. I looked down. I had thick metal chains wrapped around my body, pinning me to the table I was laying on. I struggled against them but they wouldn't budge. I looked up at the man that was holding Kira and growled, more aggressively this time.
The door opened. My attention snapped toward it. Araya stepped through the door with a man holding Lydia trailing her. I looked her over. She didn't appear to be hurt. Lydia looked at me and Scott terrified. "Oh, God." She whispers. The man pushed her to walk.
"Let her go. Look... You've got me. Just let the others go." Scott said to Araya as the man holding Lydia chained her to the chair beside Scott. He was scared. He may not have shown it but I could defiantly feel it.
The man holding Kira brought her forward. She tied to fight against him but her efforts are fruitless. She was a kitsune not a werewolf. She doesn't have supernatural strength. And she's so small, I don't think she could possibly have the human strength either. "Your hand goes here." He told her, forcing her hand on a table. He looked up at us.
"So, let me explain what's about to happen. This one, the fox, has an immunity to electricity. So she's going to turn the dial on the Alpha. If she doesn't, I turn the dial on the Banshee." He explained. Lydia looked at Scott. What the hell is this? I pulled against the chains. I rather them kill us already. "No. I'm not doing this." Kira said as she fought against him. He looked at her and said something in Spanish that my two language classes didn't cover. He forced her hand down. I fought a growl, fearful that if I didn't something wrong he, or Araya, might hurt her. But I pulled against the chains. They must know about the stollen power. The have enough chains on me to keep an elephant from moving.
"Are you sure? One of your friends has the power to heal. The other? Not so much." He said. Lydia looked at Scott. Why aren't I hooked up to something torturous? It doesn't make since. Why am I here? Why would they take the effort to chain me up?
"What are you doing? Is this a game to you?" Scott demanded. I was beginning to think so. "This is a test, lobito." Araya said walking about Scott and Lydia. I clenched my jaw and worked my shoulders against the chains. Nothing. "Let's see if you pass. We're going to ask some questions. You answer them, nobody gets hurt. You don't answer we turn on the dial." She said. I growled and fought against the chains violently. I thrashed my body as hard as I could but nothing happened. Araya looked down at me and smiled. "Hush, lobita. You're just here for an audience. What will be said will change a lot for you." I glared at her as she walked away. What is he talking about? Is she completely mental?
Scott looked at Kira. "Do what they say. Okay? Whatever they want. I can take it." Scott said. She nodded although I wasn't so sure she could do it. "So... we don't know where Derek is. We want to find him as well. You know who took him." Araya said. It wasn't a question. This is a game. And why would they want to find Derek? "What? How would I know that?" Scott demanded. How would we know that? I mean, yeah, I was there but I was unconscious. No one else was there though. "That doesn't sound like an answer to me." Araya said. I glared at her. My anger was rising and I was letting it. Maybe if I got angry enough, I could break free. And if I broke free she was the first one I was going after, whether this room was heavily guarded or not. "We don't know." Lydia said bluntly. "Why do you think we came here? For the fun of it?" I snapped. She raised an eyebrow at me. "You seemed to be having fun last night." She commented. I glared at her. I knew she was talking about the two guys. Araya sighed.
"Kira, turn the dial." She ordered. Kira shook her head frantically. "Should we turn the dial on Lydia instead?" Araya asked loudly. The man holding Kira reached for it. I threw myself against the chains desperately. If they electrocuted Lydia she would die. How could Kira see that it was not an option. "No, no!" Scott yelled. He looked at Kira. "Do it, Kira. Do it." Scott said. She looked down at the board. She was so scared and so torn. But she has to turn it on Scott.
"Lets start at one." Araya said. Kira hesitated but turned the dial. Elevtricty surged into Scott. If wasn't enough to hurt him too badly but it was defiantly uncomfortable.
Electricity crackled. "Tell me. Who actually has Derek? Who had a reason, a vendetta particular to the Hales?" Araya asked. Kira closed her eyes. The poor girl couldn't take this. I was trying so hard to bend my legs but it wasn't working. "I said I don't know." Scott said loudly. "Oh you don't know because you haven't figured it out yet. So think! Who could've taken him and left Eva?" Araya hissed. He didn't say anything. "Tres." The man holding Kira said. Scott was panting. What happened to dos? He looked at Kira. "It's okay. It's okay." He said and nodded once. Kira turned the dial. Scott leaned back in pain and Kira looked away.
"Who had the power? The power of a shapeshifter?" Araya yelled. I looked at her astonished. She knows who took him. She knows exactly who took him. She's doing all this to be cruel. I violently struggled against the chains. I thrashed and the metal digging into me wasn't about to stop. "I don't know." Scott said again. Kira looked at him pleading.
"Oh! Someone who could have turned without you knowing. Turned, but not by a bite!" She yelled sternly. Through the electricity crackling and Scott, I could hear the chains creaking and I wasn't about to stop. "I don't know!" Scott grunted. "Diez!" She ordered. Scott looked up. Kira shook her head urgently. "Diez!" Araya yelled. Scott yelled in pain. I threw myself against the chains and growled.
Araya went over and shoved Kira aside. She turned the vial herself. Scott screamed in pain. Lydia lunged toward him but she wasn't strong enough. He yelled again. I was pulling as hard as I could against the chains. I have to break free, if I don't they'll kill him and I won't have that.
Scott roared and I felt my power surge inside me. He broke his chains. I roared and pushed harder. My chains snapped and fell away. I brought my knees to my chest and put my hands on either side of my head and kicked into a stand. I crouched on the table, ready to attacked whatever came at us.
Scott deflated onto the chair. "Say the name, Scott." Araya ordered. I looked at Scott shocked. He had figured it out. He looked up at her. "Kate."
