The wind blew as the boy hiked up the hill. His boots gripped the ground, while he trudged on. The boy didn't choose to be here. But his friend, his brother, his parabatai was out there, lost, and it was up to the boy to save him. He reached the peak of the mountain, and looked across the plain. In the five weeks that he'd been hiking, the fields had been flooded from the storms. He frowned, and turned around, only to find himself facing another demon. Grabbing an arrow from his quiver, the boy shot seven arrows in a row, all of them hitting their mark. The beast fell with a heavy thud, and the boy smiled. He watched the body turn to dust, and blow away on the wind. This was the third attack that day. The demons here were stronger than the ones at home. They didn.t mind sunlight as much, and at night, their strength multiplied. It would be best if the boy kept moving. His parabatai was clearly not on this mountain. But the boy didn't care. He had to find his brother, no matter what. Even if it meant the destruction of this world. Or the boy's death.
He was running out of time. He had to find him. Soon.
