Alec slowly opened his eyes, gazing at the blurs that surrounded him. He could make out a pair of yellowish green eyes, looking at him with worry. He could see a red blob behind the eyes wearing all black. And he could make out someone shouting. That was the extent to which he could comprehend his surroundings.

But then he could make out something else out, very, very clearly. A pungent smell that reminded him of rotten eggs and month old milk mixed in together in a smoothie. Blanching, immediately regretting the decision. The world seemed to turn sideways until he felt a soft hand on his back.

"What happened" he mumbled, focusing on the stability of the hand, and his eyes slowly came into focus.

In front of him stood a very worried Izzy, a concerned Jace, Clary, and Simon, a supervised Adi and Brianna, and a missing Magnus. Ha he giggled to himself, that rhymes... Ok he was definitely still a little woozy ig he was having thoughts like that.

"What happened" he said a little more firmly. The world was upright, and he was starting to feel much more stable.

"Well" Izzy bit her lip and looked at the other girls.

"You passed out" stated Jace.

"What!!!"

"Jace!" Izzy hissed, shoving him away from Alec. "Why do you never have a filter!"

Alec blinked and realised where he was. He was no longer in the living room. Now he was laying in his and Magnus's bed. Speaking of which...

"Where's Magnus?"

The group looked at him surprised and then looked around themselves.

"I don't know" said Clary. "He was just here a minutes ago."

Adi perked up from where she was hidden in the shadow of the canopy.

"I think he went to take a walk. He looked pretty pale after Alec went down."

Alec stood up quickly. And immediately regretted it. His legs felt they were made up paper, and he immediately fell back onto the bed with a gasp.

"Oh no you don't!" Izzy pushed him down and tucked the covers over his chest. "You are in no condition to be up and walking around."

"But Izzy!" Alc struggled under the weight f the sheets and all the blankets on top of him. There was no need for this many, he hadn't passed out because he was frozen, he'd passed out because of-

Alec felt all the heat drain out of his body, and was sudden;y grateful for all of the covers piled atop him.

The others were huddled together trying to figure out why, and where Magnus could have gone.

"Maybe he went back to the gym?"

"Or back to him room?"

"What if he left the house?! He could be in danger?!"

"NO he's more sensible than that, right? Right?"

The group fell silent at that.

Alec knew exactly where he was gonna be. The two of them had a special spot out by the beach. Across town. No else knew about the little hidden cove, with an apple tree, and wildflowers. Whenever one of them was stressed or upset, they call the other and head down to the cover, and relax, forget about all their troubles. And with this new...prophecy...Magnus would definitely want to pretend that the world - and probably Alec - didn't exist right now.

"Hey guys? I'm actually still feeling a little tired. Could I just have some time alone to sleep?"

"Of course." Izzy said immediately, shooting everyone towards the door. "If you need anything. We'll be downstairs, just ring the call button!" With a final flourish, she flicked off the light switch and shut the door.

Alec was alone.

With a sigh, he managed to pull the mountain of covers off of him, missing their warmth and comfort. HE swung his legs off to the side of the bed, and put the tiniest amount of pressure. A little twinge or pain, but not really noticeable. He put more weight on his legs. The pain was worse, but manageable. He stood up, and it felt like someone was pricking his legs with needles. But he had done it. He was standing, he could walk.

Alec knew what he needed to do. After creeping down the stairs, and darting past the gang in the living room, he was in the foyer. The red and gold carpet softened his footsteps as he walking out the door, and into the night.
