Ella's POV.
Iris and Ella walked into the CCPD. Ella wasn't surprised that Barry worked here now. He had always loved science. Just then a man, who she believed to be Joe West, walked up to Iris. "Hey, baby." He said hugging her. "Hey Dad." "And who is this?" Ella smiled. "Dad? Do you remember Ella Peters, who moved to Metropolis a few years ago? Well she's back!" Joe smiled widely. "Hello Mr. West. It's so nice to see you again." She shook his hand. "Ella! It's great to see you again! Wow! You've grown up so much!" She smiled. "Thank you."
"Dad we're looking for Barry. Do know where he is?" "He's probably in his lab. You can go see if you want." "Okay thanks Dad!" "Nice to see you again Ella!" He shouted. "You too."
As she and Iris walked up the stairs, Iris began to talk. "Barry is going to be so excited! I can't wait to see his face!" Ella giggled. They walked into his lab. There at a desk, with his head down, working on some chemicals, stood a tall young man, with brown, chestnut hair.
"Barry?" His head shot up to look at Iris. He smiled widely and his eyes sparkled as he looked at her. It was a look of...love? As if she was the most important thing in his world. Ella frowned slightly, but shook the silly feeling off. "Hey! What's going-" His eyes shot over to Ella. "Who-who is this?" He asked, walking over to them. "A friend."
"Oh. Hi, I'm Barry. Barry Allen." He said holding out his hand. He didn't recognize her at all. She smiled slightly and shook his hand. "It's nice to meet you Mr. Allen. I'm...." "Jenny! Jenny Thomas!" Iris interrupted. Ella looked oddly at her. She shot her a look as if saying 'just go with it!' She shrugged and decided to humor her. "Oh, well it's nice to meet you Jenny." "It's nice meeting you too." She said trying not to laugh.
"Hey, Bare? I'm gonna go get all of us something to drink. I'll be right back." She said. Ella noticed Barry give Iris an annoyed and nervous look. Ella shot her a look as well. Iris smiled and bolted.
Berry stood there looking uncomfortable, with his hands in his pockets. Ella bit her lip. An awkward silence filled the room. "So....where are you from Jenny?" "I'm originally from here, but later I moved to Metropolis when I was about 10." "Oh...really?" He asked. "Yeah."
"I had a friend when I was younger, who moved to Metropolis." "Really? That's interesting." "Yeah. I doubt you would know her. Her name was Ella. Ella Peters." "Oh...I think I may know her." She smiled. "Really?! That's crazy!" "Yeah." She began to giggle. "What?" "Nothing." She laughed. "Really what?" "Barry. I can't do this anymore." "Can't do what anymore?" He asked.
Ella put out her hand for him to shake. "Hi, Mr Allen. I'm Ella, Peters." He stared at her hand and blinked. Then his eyes widened. He looked up at her. "Ella?" She smiled and nodded. "Ella Peters?!" She nodded. He laughed and hugged her tightly. "I can't believe it's you!" She laughed. "It's really me."
They pulled away. His hands set on her shoulders. He observed her. "Wow, Ella. You look...your so..." "Grown up?" She raised an eyebrow. He smiled. "Yeah. Wow. I can't believe it!" She giggled. He pulled a chair around for her to sit. She sat as he sat down on the edge of his desk.
"So...how have you been?" He asked. "Good, I went to college and then worked at the Daily Planet for two years." "Worked? Aren't you still working there?" "No. They uh...had to let me go, due to budget cuts." "Oh, Ella. I'm really sorry." "Yeah, I mean it was disappointing, but it wasn't like I was going to become a reporter. I had been there for two years as photographer and still hadn't gotten promoted. There was just too much competition." Barry nodded understandingly.
"I understand. So what brought you back here?" "Well...after I was fired, I thought what was in Metropolis that would make me stay and the more I thought about it the more I realized...I wanted to go home and home was here." "That's great, but what about your parents?" "Yeah...my Dad and Mom, they...passed away a while ago." Barry frowned and look sympathetically. "Oh, Ella. I'm so sorry. I know how it feels." Ella scrunched her eyebrows. "What?"
Barry looked down. "My uh, mom. She was, she was murdered when I was kid." Ella quietly gasped. She was very fond of Mrs. Allen. She was one of the sweetest people she had ever known. She put her hand on Barry's. "Barry. I'm so so sorry. Nora was one of the kindest people I've ever known. Even to this day. I'm very sorry." Barry smiled sadly and looked at her. "Thank you."
Suddenly Iris walked in. "Hey guys so-" She paused and looked between the two. They both pulled they're hands back. "Okay? Anyway so I got all of us coffee. Here." She handed the coffee to them. "That wasn't a nice trick by the way." Barry told Iris. "Oh don't be a buzz kill. It was funny." Ella laughed and nodded. "It was." Barry rolled his eyes.
"Hey, so Ella. Where are you staying?" Iris asked. "Well, right now I'm staying a hotel, but I'll be getting an apartment here soon." "No way girl. Your not staying in a hotel. Your going to stay at our house." "Your house?" She asked, looking between Barry and Iris. Barry's eyes widened. "No! No, it's not like that. You see...after what happened, happened Iris and her Dad took me in." "Oh! I see."
Iris smiled and nodded. "Yeah. So what do you say?" Ella smiled. "Yes. Totally." Iris smiled widely. "Okay. You and I will run by your hotel and take your things to my house." "Alright." Iris took her hand and began to drag her out the door. "See you later Barry!" He laughed. "See you!"
