Barry had talked to Wells or Thawn and he had explained the plan. He would run into the Particle Excelerator and collide with a particle. He would then creat the worm whole, travel backa dm save his mom and Thawn would go back home. If he didn't run fast enough he would crash into the particle and die.
When Barry explained all this to Doctor Stein and his other friends they thought he was crazy. Cisco especially, but when Barry told him he needed to build a time machine Cisco became incredibly interested. After Cisco talked to Wells about the machine, Ronnie, Cisco and Barry started to build it.
They were interrupted by Doctor Stein who had bad and frightening news. If he succeeded and created the worm whole there was a possibility that it would creat a black whole over Central City. It could even become so out of hand that it could become a world wide catastrophe. After speaking to Thawn Barry didn't know what to do. Thawn said it was such a low possibility it was nothing to worry about, while everyone else didn't trust him. He was sure that everything would work perfectly.
Barry walked into the treadmill room. He put his hands behind his neck and laughed in an I can't believe this tone. Joe followed. Barry laughed again and put his hands on his hips. "So if I don't run fast enough to collide with the particle then I'm dust. And if I do run fast enough and I'm not back here in time then a black whole will form swallowing Central City and possibly the world." He looked at Joe.
"You sure you wanna look me in the eyes and tell me this is for the best?" "I would be lying if I told you that I did." Barry sat down on the treadmill and put his head in his hands. "The truth is I don't know what to think." "I thought you were the sure one. I was kinda banking on that when I made the decision." Barry said.
"I was faking it. Sometimes parents do that. Most of the time parents do that. Look of course I'm scared, but I didn't not want you to help your mother because you were worried about me." Joe admitted. "I'll always worry about you Joe. Just like you'll always worry about me. I'm sorry, but you can't stop that."
Barry paused as tears welled up in his eyes. "Do you think I can do it? That I can save my Mom? Do you think I'm fast enough?" Joe looked Barry in the eye. "Yes. I know you are." He nodded with tears in his eyes.
Barry looked down as he felt a wave of emotions set in. "You know I dreamed my whole life. . .about saving her, freeing my dad. I never thought I'd have to loose another parent to do that." Barry said through tears. Joe shook his head. "Barry-" Barry interrupted him. "No Joe. It's true. It's true. I've always focused on all that I had lost that night, but I gained so much too. I was born with one father. And a tragedy gave me another."
Barry shook his head as a tear fell down his cheek. "I don't think I can loose you too." Joe looked at Barry. "You won't ever loose me. Ever, you hear me? Ever." He said firmly. Barry nodded knowing it wasn't true. "Yeah, Joe."
The next day Caitlin and Ronnie were going to be married. Barry had also found out that Eddie had asked Iris to marry him. Dr. Stein was going to marry Caitlin and Ronnie since he was licensed. Caitlin had asked Iris to be her maid of honor and Cisco was the best man. Barry, Eddie and Joe watched the small outdoor ceremony take place. Caitlin was dressed beautifully in a white long gown. She carried yellow flowers and handed them to Iris. Ronnie and she held hands and said their vows.
Through all this all Barry could do was smile and think of the only person he had seen himself with in this situation. He imagined how beautiful Ella would look in a wedding gown and how much he had wanted for all of that to happen. It still could, but if he travelled back in time. . .things could change.
Barry was snapped out of his thoughts when he heard Stein speak. "You may now kiss the bride." Ronnie looked at him. "Stop telling me what to do." He joked. Ronnie kissed Caitlin. They were married. Everyone clapped and cheered. Barry looked down. He had to see her one last time.
