Barry's POV.
Iris came home from her date with Eddie and sat on the couch with Barry. He had spent Valentines day alone. Just then her phone rang. After she got off she sighed. "What?" He asked. "That was Ella. She's at the park. Apparently she and Scott just ended things." Barry couldn't help, but feel happy. "What? Why?" He asked. "Something happened I'm not at liberty to tell you. She should tell you herself." Iris explained.
"I understand. So are you going to go get her?" Iris shook her head. "No. She wants to walk." Barry sighed. "She can't walk all the way here. I'm gonna go get her." Iris sat shook her head. "No. She insisted. She said that she wanted to walk." Barry sighed. "Fine. I'm gonna go to bed. See you tomorrow." He said and walked upstairs.
Barry wasn't actually going to bed. He quickly changed into his Flash suit and ran out the window and to the park. He searched the whole park until he finally saw her standing on the gazebo, leaning over the railing. He stopped behind her. The moons glow illuminated the side of her face.
Ella's POV.
Ella sighed heavily. She looked to the path where she had come, but didn't start down it. Ella turned and walked over to the railing. She looked out across the lake and listened to quiet sounds. It was beautifully peaceful, yet instead of peace she felt sadness.
Elle looked up to the sky and saw a star shining brightly. Ella knew it would be silly and childlike, but she ignored it. She was alone and could be herself. She stared at the star and silently made a wish that she and Barry would find one another someday. A soft breeze blew past her face.
Her hair blew in the wind gently. "Ella?" She heard a familiar voice say. She knew who it was. "Flash." She said. Ella turned around to look at him. "How did you know it was me?" He asked. "I recognized your voice." She answered. "Oh."
"You know you sound just like my friend Barry Allen." She smiled. He stuttered nervously. "Um. . .thats weird. I'm sure your mistaken." He said. Ella nodded. "Maybe. So what brings you out here? How did you know where I was?" She asked walking toward him.
"Well, I was running around checking the city for anything going on and I ran into the park. I saw someone here and I realized it was you. And you were alone. You know, it's not safe to be here at night by yourself." He warned. Ella shook her head. "I wasn't alone. Scott took me here after dinner." She told him.
"Where is he? Did he just leave you here?" The Flash asked in an angry tone. Ella shook her head. "No, no. It wasn't like that. You see. . .he took me here to tell me something." "And what was that?" The Flash asked. "He told me that-that he loved me." She said. The Flash stood there with a blank expression. She looked at him in concern.
He blinked and soon brightened up. "Well that's- that's wonderful." He said with a seemingly fake smile. She looked down sadly. "No. No it's not." The Flash looked at her in confusion. "What do you mean? That was what you wanted wasn't it?" He asked. She shook her head. "No. I thought it was, but-"
"I don't understand. You love him. He makes you happy." Ella looked at him. "But that's just it. I don't love him." She said with a tear streaming down her face. "And he doesn't make me happy." She frowned. The Flash looked speechless. She continued. "I know I'm crazy for not loving him. He's kind, sweet and funny, does amazingly at his job, and loves me, but. . . I don't love him. I never did." She said sadly.
"But the other night. . .you-you told me that-" she nodded. "I know what I told you, but I was lying. I thought that I could try and grow to love him. That I wouldn't hurt him, but I couldn't. And when he told me how he felt. . .I couldn't lie to him." She explained. "I understand. I'm sorry you had to go through all that."
"It's alright. I needed to quit lying to myself anyway. The only thing is. . .now I don't have anyone." He stepped closer to her and put his hand on her arm. "That's not true. You have me. You'll always have me." Ella smiled at him. "Thank you Flash."
"So if you were lying the other night then does that mean you. . ." He began. Ella looked at him sadly. Now she would have to hurt him. "Flash. I really really do care for you, and your incredibly wonderful. Your perfect, but I'm not inlove with you." The Flash nodded disappointedly. "I see."
"It's not that I couldn't someday see myself falling inlove with you, it's just. My heart belongs to someone else. Someone else whose heart, I'm afraid, doesn't belong to me." She felt a tear fall down her cheek. She quickly wiped it away. He looked at her in confusion. "If you don't mind my asking. . .who is this someone?" He asked. She shook her head and turned back to the railing. "It doesn't matter."
"Are you inlove with him?" He asked. Ella nodded. "I am." She answered with no delay. The Flash nodded sadly. "If this man your inlove with doesn't share your feelings he's a fool." Ella looked down.
The Flash walked up behind her and touched her arm. "I will always be here for you, Ella. Even if only as your friend." He said. "Same for me. And maybe someday if things change. . .we can be more." He smiled. "I'd like that." "Me too." She answered softly.
The two gazed at one another fondly. Ella knew the Flash wouldn't take any liberties, so she leaned up and kissed him gently. The Flash was surprised, but kissed her back just as gently. Ella leaned turned and leaned her elbows on the railing. He turned with her and put his hands on the railing as well. She could feel the love he was pouring into the kiss for he last time. They continued their "goodbye" kiss.
Suddenly they heard thunder crack. When the two pulled apart Ella felt something, like an electric shock on her lips. She gasped and looked at him. Then the two heard lightning. They looked over at the sky. Rain was now pouring down. Ella looked back to the Flash and blushed. He looked down at her and moved away.
He smiled softly at her. "I'll take you home." "No. Actually I'm going to my friends house." She said. "Oh. Alright well, I'll take you there." He went over to her and picked her up. Then he ran. Ella felt water beads hitting her face.
The Flash slowed down and stopped in the middle of the road. "What street does you friend live on?" He asked. "Umm. DearCrossing Trail." She answered. He nodded, then ran again.
They arrived at Barry and Iris's house. He put her down on the porch and smiled. "Goodnight, Ella." With that he ran off. Ella ran down the stairs into the rain and watched as the red lightning disappeared into the night. "Goodnight Flash." She whispered. The rain ran down her cheeks.
