Barry's POV.
Barry came into the lab saddened and disappointed. He had just confessed his feelings to Iris. She of course told him that she was inlove with Eddie. Barry was crushed. He was inlove with her.
Before Barry could even sit down and think about what had happened, Cisco told Barry that there had been an attack at a funeral parlor. Barry put his Flash suit on and ran to the funeral parlor, where the attack had been. On his way Barry saw another Flash appear, running next to him. It was like an illusion. It ran past him and disappeared.
Barry stopped running. He looked around in confusion, but saw nothing, just a woman hailing a cab, a couple walking across the street holding hands and a guy walking dogs, but struggling so much that he tripped. Barry shook his head. "Barry? You okay?" Cisco asked. "Yeah. I'm fine."
Barry took off and ran to the funeral parlor. He found the coroner dead. Later he went and inspected the crime scene with Joe. They found out that Mark Mardin had killed the coroner to find out who had killed his brother Clyde. They also found out that Mark Mardin could control the weather.
Barry was tired from the day, emotionally and physically. He decided to go and talk to his best friend, Ella. He knew he would see her that night at her Christmas party, but for some reason he had to see her now. He knew that if he did, he would feel much better. When he thought of her, he remembered of how he could always confide in her as the Flash and as Barry Allen. He smiled at the thought of her kind and caring spirit. He ran to her new apartment to see her.
Ella's POV.
It was Ella's first Christmas back home in Central City with her friends. She was so happy to be back. She had invited everyone to her apartment for a Christmas party. Barry was going to bring some friends of his along as well. It was Christmas Eve and Ella was finishing her decorating. She had some Christmas music on, to set the mood. She loved this time of year.
It was the middle of the afternoon. Ella decided to write an article on The Flash because he had done some saving earlier that day. He still hadn't come to visit her yet. After the last time he came he seemed to keep his distance. She thought it was to keep her safe. Or she hoped it was because of that reason.
Just then she heard a knock at the door. She got up and answered it. When she opened the door she saw Barry standing there with his hands in his pockets. "Hey, Ella." "Hi, Bare! Come on in." He nodded and walked in. She closed the door.
He looked around the room at all the decorations. "I like what you've done with the place. Very festive." She giggled. "You know me. I love Christmas. I'm still not done yet. I have a few more decorations to put up."
Barry was quiet. Too quiet. Ella walked up to him. "Is there something going on that I need to know?" She asked. Barry pierced his lips. "I might have told Iris how I felt about her." Ella felt her heart break. Now she was certain, she had fallen for Barry. If she hadn't fallen for him, then she wouldn't be so hurt. "You...told her how you feel?" He nodded.
She forced a smile. "So? What happened? What did she say?" She asked sitting crosslegged on the couch. "Well..." Barry began. He sat down next to Ella. "I told her I loved her and...she thought I meant it as brotherly love." Ella cringed slightly. "That's never a good sign." She commented. He raised his eyes brows in agreement. "Anyway...I then proceeded to tell her that I was...inlove with her. She....didn't take it well. She told me that she was with Eddie and that she loved him. Then I left."
Ella began to feel sorry for Barry. Here he had confessed all of his love to her and she broke his heart. "Barry...I'm so sorry." She put her hand on his. "Iris is a fool, not to feel the same way." Barry shook his head. "No. She's just inlove with Eddie. And that's okay. It will just take a while." Barry said. Ella hugged him and released. "Hey, why don't you help me decorate. Get your mind on something else." He smiled. "Okay."
Ella gave Barry a box of decorations to put up and she took another box. Finally they were done. They both stood in the middle of the room and smiled. "It looks perfect." She said. Barry looked over to a table and his smile faltered. "Almost perfect. We forgot this." He said.
He went over and picked up the decoration off the table. She walked over with him. Mistletoe. "Where should we hang the trap?" He asked. She giggled. "Wherever you want." He nodded. She smiled as he put up a latter next to her and hung the mistletoe up. He put the latter up and came to stand next to her. "Now it's perfect." He smiled. She looked up at him.
Then she noticed something right above his head. His trap. He followed her gaze to the ceiling. He looked back down at her. "I didn't realize we were umm..." Barry said. As much as she wished he would kiss her, she knew she couldn't make him do it. Not after what he had gone through. "Well since we just put it up and haven't really had the chance to move away...it doesn't have to count." He looked at her oddly at her. "Really?" Ella smiled softly at him. "Yeah." "Thanks." Barry said. "No problem."
Ella's POV.
That night at the Christmas party Barry brought some friends from STAR Labs with him. "Ella this is Caitlyn Snow and Cisco Ramone. They helped me after I woke up form my coma." "I see. Well, it's very nice to meet you. And thank you so much for taking care of Barry." Ella said. Caitlyn smiled. "Your welcome."
Later Ella saw Barry go over to Iris and congratulate her and Eddie about moving in with one another. Barry was heart broken. Ella saw Barry walk out to the balcony. She sighed and excused herself. She got two cups of eggnog and went out to stand next to Barry, who was leaning against the railing. "Hey. I thought you could use some company." She said. He looked at her and gave her a half hearted smile. She handed him the drink. "Thanks." He said. "No problem."
She leaned her side against the railing, while he put both arms on the railing and held his mug over it. "You wanna talk about it?" She asked. He shook his head and took a drink. "I told Iris I had feelings for her and she made it unbelievably clear that she has no feelings for me. End of story." He summed it up. Ella sighed. "I don't know what to say. I usually do, but...this time....I'm sorry, Barry." He looked at her and nodded. "It okay. I understand."
"Someone recently told me that I always know exactly what to say. That...when they talk to me...everything is better afterwards. That they didn't feel so alone. I wish I could make you feel that way." She saw Barry smile a genuine smile. He looked at her. "Who said that to you?" "Umm...a very close friend." Barry smirked. "I see. Or is he something more than a close friend?" Barry asked with a smirk.
"I honestly don't know." She answered slightly disappointedly. "What do you mean?" "Well...once he kissed my hand and then we looked into each others eyes and..." "And?" He asked rather quickly. "And we...started leaning in. I was sure he was going to kiss me, but he stood up quickly and left. I actually haven't seen him since." She explained.
"He doesn't sound like a very good friend." Barry said. "He is. It's just...it's complicated. We are friends. Really, it's just... I think he may feel weirded out now." She said sadly. "Maybe." He said looking down. Ella sighed.
"Did you want him to kiss you?" "Well, yes. I did." Barry's eyes went slightly wide and his mouth dropped open slightly. He quickly closed it. "Oh." Ella shook her head. "I'm sorry, let's talk about something else." "Okay. What should we talk about?" He asked smiling. Ella had a sudden urge to kiss him. Although she had to admit that she felt that urge quite a lot.
"Ella? Earth to Ella?" Barry waved his hand in front of her face. She blinked. "Y-yes?" "You were just standing there staring at me. You okay?" He asked. "Uh.... yeah. Totally. I just I guess I'm just tired." "Oh I see. Well...why don't we go back in and join the party?" She nodded. "Yeah, good idea."
