Ella's POV.
Ella stood walked into the lab where Barry was lying down. Caitlin and Cisco were getting everything ready to take a MRI of Barry's spine. Barry looked deep in thought. "Hey." Barry looked up at her, he obviously hadn't heard her walk in. "Hi."
She walked over to the bed and sat on the edge near his legs. She looked at where they were under the blanket then looked up at his face. He was staring at his legs also. "How are doing?" She asked softly. His eyes met hers. He looked back down and shrugged. "I don't know." Ella looked down. He was looking at his legs once again.
"Ella. . ." She looked up. His face was full of sadness as he stared down at his legs. "What if. . .what if I can never-" she put her hand on top of his. "You will." She told him firmly. He looked at her. His eyes were full of sadness and fear. "But what if I can't? What if I can't walk?" "Then you can't walk. Barry whatever happens, whatever it is, we'll deal with it." She told him.
Barry stared at her for a moment then looked down. "I don't know what I'll do if I can't." He whispered. "Barry, there are people out there who can't walk. When they find out they're lives don't end. They keep on going. They make the best of it and become stronger people because of it. It doesn't change who they are. They don't let it define them." She told him.
Barry shook his head. "This is different. Ella, I'm the Flash. Without my legs. . . my speed. . . I'm nothing. For the last three years all I've known was the feeling of electricity crackling around and through my entire body. The feeling of my feet flying across the ground. What am I going to do if it's all just taken away as fast as it was given to me?" Ella looked at him sadly. She began to speak when he spoke again.
"What will the city do once they realize the Flash is gone? What will Zoom do? Without the Flash the city's defenseless against him."
Ella looked into his eyes. "Barry listen to me. You will be able to be the Flash. I know it."
Barry began to shake his head. "You don't-" "Your right I don't know, but I have a faith." Ella said interrupting him. He looked up to meet her eyes. Just then Caitlin cane in. "It's ready." Barry looked his and nodded. After Caitlin had taken an MRI of Barry's spinal injury she found that if a normal person had been injured the way Barry had they would never be able to walk again. Luckily with Barry's healing abilities he would be back up and running again in about a week. Barry still seemed unsure about it all.
The next few days were rough. Barry was still worried about walking again and seemed afraid to even try. Ella had offered to stay at Barry's apartment while he recovered, because he wasn't able to tell his new girlfriend, Patty. Barry accepted, but acted worried that it would be an imposition for her. Ella insisted.
It was Monday and Ella woke up early to get breakfast for she and Barry. She took a short shower, got dressed and got breakfast going. After it was done she set the table and wiped her hands off with a towel. Barry would be up any second. Suddenly Ella heard a noise from inside his room. It sounded like objects falling onto the floor, followed by a groan.
Ella took off for Barry's room. Without thinking she opened the door to find Barry tumbled out of his bed onto the floor, wincing. His electric wheelchair was near him. She could tell what had happened.
Ella placed her hands on her hips and looked down at him. "Are you okay?" She asked. Barry looked up at her and nodded. "Just a little bruised." Ella sighed. "Serves you right for trying to get out of bed on your own." Ella she scolded him, while helping him up in the chair.
Once he was sitting Ella placed her hand on her hips again and looked at him. "Barry Allen, what were you thinking?! You could have been hurt!" Barry looked at her. "But I wasn't." Ella looked at him in disbelief. "Just because you weren't hurt doesn't change the fact that you could have been and you know it." Barry sighed with his head down. "I know."
