CHAPTER 8: Friends

(Zoe's POV)

I've been in England for four days now and I'm going back to the Philippines by tomorrow. At dahil diyan, gagala muna ako ngayon. Guess who's coming with me?

It's Clive. Yeah, we're sort of friends now. Nagkausap kami dun sa party and magaan naman yung loob ko sa kanya kaya naging magkaibigan kami. He even said sorry about what happened in the reception. The garter part. And I assured him it was fine. Mabait din naman si Clive at sobrang kulit tas minsan mahangin pero yung tipong di ka maiinis. Ganun!

Inayos ko na ang saili ko. I wore a fitted white v-neck shirt and a white shorts with a varsity jacket and and navy blue sneakers while I left my hair untied. I grabbed my bag and my coat and went downstairs.

Pagbaba ko nakita ko na agad si Clive sa sala. "Tara na." sabi ko.

Tumayo agad siya. I must admit that he looks gorgeously handsome in his dark denim pants, black hoodie jacket and vans. Can I drool? Pinilig ko ang ulo ko. Umayos ka Zoe!

He smiled and then motioned us to go out. Hindi na ako nagpaalam, wala namang ibang tao sa bahay kundi yung mga kasambahay. Kuya Sky and Ate Clary are in Hawaii for their honeymoon, sina Mom and Dad naman nasa trabaho na.

"Saan tayo ngayon?" I asked him.

Hindi naman sa first time ko sa London, ilang beses na akong nakabalik dito kase dito nakabase ang business namin. Wala lang talaga akong masyadong alam sa mga lugar dito. Although I'm here sometimes on summer when I was still a kid, I'm not really good in memorizing directions and places.

Ngumiti naman siya. Ang cute niyang ngumiti, kitang yung dimples. "Sumunod ka nalang. Well versed ako dito."

I shrugged and we started to roam London. Una naming pinuntahan ang Big Ben also known as Elizabeth Tower. It holds the largest four-faced chiming clock around the world and the third tallest free standing clock tower.

After that, we went to Tower of London. I've been here before but it was 8 years ago, that was when I had a vacation here. It took us one and a half hour to finish roaming the place. It was magnificent. The Tower's greatest attraction the Crown Jewels are housed in the White Tower. At the Crown Jewels exhibition you will see some of the world's most precious jewels set into swords, robes, and of course crowns. The Imperial State Crown is still used today by the Queen of England for ceremonial occasions.

We satisfied our appetites after that. Nagpunta kami sa isang diner na kilala rin sa London.

"Saan na tayo susunod?" I asked him while pigging my roast beef.

Inubos niya muna yung pagkain sa bibig niya bago sumagot. In fairness, yung manners niya. "Sa Tower Bridge and then we'll go to Trafalgar Square, dun natin hihintayin na mag gabi tas pupunta na tayo sa London Eye, maganda yung view sa taas dun pag night time."

I nodded. "Pwede ba tayong dumaan sa isang dress shop? May kinuwento kase si ate Clary na shop dito. Yung product daw nila is from Paris."

"Mahilig ka pala sa dresses?" tanong niya. Para siyang na amaze or something. Bakit? Most girls are fond of dresses. Kahit ako, pero medyo lang. Mas grabe si Cindy. I'm more on books kaya halos magmukha ng library ang kwarto ko.

"No, it's for my best friend actually."

Tumango-tango siya. "I see." Then he continued eating.

Just after that, pinuntahan na namin yung Tower Bridge. It is one of the most recognizable symbols of the city. It consists of two towers and two horizontal walkways between the towers together. The road may be raised when the big ships have to pass through. 'London bridge is falling down, falling down, falling down' I sang in my mind while watching the view. That was crazy.

Pumunta na kami sa dress shop after. They have really beautiful dresses. Kung kasama ko si Cindy ngayon, baka bilhin niya na itong lahat. I bought her a white casual dress with a symmetrical design. Tas bumili nadin ng sa akin, a dainty dotted dress one.

It is 5 o'clock in the afternoon when we arrived at Trafalgar Square. It has a fountain and many pigeons can be seen everywhere. I think those are the one making this place famous. Dun na muna kami nagpahinga saglit. While waiting, di naming pinalampas ang street foods, marami kasing nagbebenta. Kaya ayun, kumain na naman kami.

Nung nag six na ng gabi, we made our way to London Eye. It is a giant ferris wheel on the south bank of the River Thames. Sumakay na kami sa ferris wheel. Dahan-dahang ng umikot. Slow lang yung movement niya. Para maappreciate ng mga nakasakay ang view at makita nang maayos. Nakarating na kami sa taas. The view is breathtakingly beautiful, kitang kita mo yung mga streetlights sa baba. They are mirroring the stars above.

Naalala ko noon, I never have the courage to ride this thing because of my fear on heights. Kaya ang ginawa ni Kuya, hindi narin siya sumakay kahit gustong-gusto niya, ayaw daw kase niyang maiwan ang prinsesa niya. Magkasama nalang naming pinanood ang dahan-dahang pag-ikot ng ferris wheel.

If you're wondering why I am riding this right now? I lost my fears because of him. He vanished it. I conquered fear with him. Nagde-date kami sa EK nun dahil first monthsary namin, pinilit niya akong sakyan ang mga extreme rides pero ayaw ko. Rare right? Usually kase ang mga babae ang humihiling na sumakay sa mga rides. He told me na sasakay nalang daw kami sa ferris wheel, kaya pumayag na ako kanina ko pa kase siya hindi pinagbibigyan. Do you know what's the most memorable thing in a ferris wheel? It happened there, our first kiss.

Natigil ako sa pag-iisip nang tapikin ni Clive ang balikat ko. "Okay ka lang?" tanong niya.

"Ha?"

"Kanina pa ako salita nang salita dito pero di ka pala nakikinig, tulala ka tas ang lalim ng iniisip."

"Ah, sorry." Tas tumingin ulit ako sa baba. The view is really breathtaking. Kitang-kita mo ang magagandang city lights ng London mula sa taas.

"Okay lang. Ang ganda ng view no?"

"Oo." I answered. I admire the view so much.

"Sobrang ganda." He whispered.

I look at him only to know that he is looking at me.
