CHAPTER 46: Anxiety
(Zoe's POV)
What Clive said brought me to anxiety. Nonetheless, I just shrugged the idea off. I believe Tristan wouldn't do anything like that, I trust him. It's been days since Tristan came back from Cebu. It's Sunday today. Tristan is planning to go on a country club with an investor from Australia to play golf. He wanted me to come with them and since I don't have any plans for today so I accepted the offer.
We drove to Muntinlupa, the club is located somewhere there.
"You're phone's ringing." I told Tristan who is currently driving. When the traffic light turned red, he got his phone from his pocket. His phone is still ringing but he just turned it off. "Bakit mo pinatay?"
He just shrugged, the light turned back to green and he drove again. "Unregistered number."
"Baka importante yun?"
"I'm sure it's not. Usually, pag may tumatawag na unregistered number and it's important nag tetext muna si Ivan, dumadaan muna sa kanya yun."
I nodded my head. Baka wrong number lang yun. Few minutes after, we reached the country club. We got out of our car at sinalubong agad kami ni Ivan.
"Hello Master! Good moning!" He greeted Tristan and was surprised to see me beside him. "Uy Miss Ella - I mean, Zoe pala, hello!"
I smiled at him and said my hello too.
"Nandito na sila Master, nauna na sa course."
"Kanina pa ba sila?" asked Tristan.
Ivan thinks briefly for a while. "Mga 15 minutes pa lang."
Tristan just nodded his head. The golf carts arrived and they transported us to the course. Few persons were already there when we arrived. Two men were shaded with umbrellas. They turned to our direction when they noticed our presence.
"Mr. Andrade." A man who has an age with my father approached us. His voice is broad and polite. I guess he is the investor.
"Mr. Williams." Tristan said in response. "I'm sorry if we're a bit late."
"It's fine. We went here just too early."
"By the way, this is Zoe Lopez, my girlfriend." said Tristan introducing me to the old man.
"It's nice to meet you Ms. Lopez. I'm Greg Williams." He offered his hand to me.
I took his hand and shake it. "I'm pleased to meet you too Mr. Williams."
A younger man who has an age with Tristan walked his way towards us.
"Oh, and by the way, this is my son, Blake." Mr. Williams told us the moment the young man reached his side.
"Tristan Andrade." They shake hands. Blake's gaze landed on mine.
"Blake." He offered his hand as he looked at me intently and suddenly, I felt conscious in his stare. I set aside the thought and took his hands. "Zoe."
"Have we met before?" he asked me, his hands still holding mine. He narrowed his eyes, as if thinking of something, then he snapped. "You're from AE Towers, right?" I nodded my head and slowly withdraw my hand from his hold. "I knew it why you look really familiar. We met at the party, remember?"
What party? Oh right! The party at the condominium. How can I forget? That was the time when Tristan suddenly came back.
"Are you from the company too?" Blake asked me.
I was about to say no but Tristan stole my line. "No, she's my girlfriend." He said emphasizing the word 'girlfriend' as he draped and arm around my waist possessively.
They started to play after when Mr. Greg Williams broke everything and suggested to begin the game. Tinanong nga nila ako kung gusto ko ba daw sumali but I refused. Wala naman akong alam sa mga ganyan.
"Alam mo, babaero daw yang si Blake." He whispered. He's beside me holding an umbrella.
"Saan mo naman nalaman?"
"Sa instinct ko." He answered plainly and I looked at him weirdly. "Halata naman." He added.
"Ikaw talaga Ivan, baka marinig ka niya."
He laughed slightly and we continued to watch the game. We went to a dining restaurant after. They've decided to eat lunch before leaving.
"How was your father?" Mr. Willson asked Tristan. We are waiting for our orders to be served.
"He's doing fine. He's still recovering from the accident and fortunately, he's going stable every day." Tristan said with a smile on his face. I'm really glad about his father.
"That's good to hear. I'll pay him a visit some time."
I suddenly felt uneasy when I noticed Blake is staring me again. Why does he keep doing that? I sat straight to hide my uneasiness.
"I'm sure he'll be happy to see you." Tristan said, his arms slowly rested at the back of my chair. Thank God. I leaned my back and I felt comfort. He looked at me and smiled. Maybe he felt my anxiety.
After naming mag lunch, nagpaalam na sina Mr. Williams sa amin. May importante pa daw silang pupuntahan. Possesive boyfriend.
"I hated how that Blake looks at you." He told me the moment Mr. Williams' car left.
"Trust me babe, I hated it too." I said kissing his cheeks and he smiled.
Monday. I'm fixing myself for work and Tristan is still on the shower when his phone rang.
"Babe, may tumatawag sayo!" I shouted but he seemed not to hear me. Because the phone didn't stop ringing, I thought it's something important so I decided to pick it up and hand it to him in the bathroom. But I was stunned when I saw the caller ID.
Erinn calling...
Why is she calling my boyfriend? Curiously, I answered it.
I heard someone sighed angrily at the other line. "Goodness Tristan! Mabuti naman at naisipan mo ng sagutin ang tawag ko!" she shouted. "Kailangan nating magkita." Why so? I wanted to talk but I stopped myself.
"Tristan, I'm pregnant."
