Chapter 59 (Final Chapter)

CHAPTER 59: Birthday

(Zoe's POV)

Days happened in a blur. In a blink of an eye, his birthday came.

October 15...

I never thought this day would come quicker than I expected.

Now things were about to change. 24 hours from now, he will no longer be in my arms. We will be oceans apart. I will no longer feel his strong arms wrapped around my waist, his soft lips against my mine, and his warmth enveloping me.

I firmly closed my eyes as tears started to form in my eyes. I would always cry with the thought of him leaving. Parang hindi ko kaya. Hindi ko lang pinapakita sa kanya. I don't want to stop him either. Hindi naman kase tama. His world doesn't just revolve on me but also on his family and the company. Tanggap ko na yun. Masakit lang talaga.

I slowly draped my arms around his waist. He was sleeping soundly on his stomach.

"Tristan," I whispered.

"Hmm?" he is still half-sleep.

"Happy Birthday"

Slowly, he turned around facing me. A smile crept on his lips.

"Bumangon ka na, we're celebrating."

Pagkatapos naming makapag-ayos dalawa, bumaba na kami. I insisted to do the driving total ako naman ang nakakaalam kung saan kami pupunta ngayon. I have planned this one ahead of time. This day is worth celebrating because it's his birthday and should be spent worthwhile for this would be our last time together before he leaves. Gusto ko lang sulitin. Hours later, we arrived at our first destination. Buti nalang at kabisado ko na ang daan.

"EK?" he asked, amused.

"Yes, we had our first date here, remember?"

"How could I forget? It was one of the best times of my life because I was with you."

I smiled and held his hands as we entered the amusement park.

Lahat na siguro ng rides tinry na namin. Kahit yung mga extreme rides. Although takot parin ako sa matataas nang konti, kasama ko naman siya. And I'll never be afraid when I'm with him because I trust him, because I know he'll protect me.

Sinusulit ko ang bawat oras na dumadaan, ang bawat minuto, ang bawat segundo. Kagaya ng ginagawa namin araw-araw. Sinusulit ang bawat sandaling dumadaan. Until sunset came... we went to the best ride of all, the most special one...

The ferris wheel.

We just watched the sunset together in each other's arms. It was romantic yet painful – romantic because I was watching the serenity of the sunset with the love of my life and painful because it's giving us a glimpse of goodbye. It was bittersweet.

My chest tightened. I closed my eyes and I felt him caressed my cheeks.

"Don't cry."

I opened my eyes and smiled painfully at him.

"I can't help not to."

And then he hugged me tightly.

When darkness finally enveloped the sky, we decided to leave the park. This time, siya na ang nag drive para mas safe daw since gabi na.

"Let's go to our haven." He suggested and I agreed with him.

He was just holding my hand the whole drive. Kahit ako ayokong bumitaw. Gusto kong hawakan ang kamay niya palagi. Gusto kong sa tabi ko lang siya. Pero hindi talaga pwede.

I noticed a table at the center the moment we arrived. There are lanterns too. "I asked Ivan to prepare this for us." He said. He held my hand. Naglakad kami patungo sa mesa.

"I didn't know you have a surprise too." I teased. He was smiling sweetly at me. "Of course. It's our 4th anniversary too."

Napaisip ako. Tama. Kasabay kasi ng birthday niya ang pagsagot ko sa kanya. It was my gift for him. Ngumuso ako sa kanya."Naghiwalay kaya tayo. Kaya di pa tayo four years no." panunukso ko.

He narrowed his eyes on me. Lalo tuloy akong napataw. "We didn't break up Ella. Nalayo lang tayo sa isa't isa pero di tayo naghiwalay."

I giggled."Fine. Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary!"

He held my hand and guided me to the table. We had a candle light dinner under the night sky which is so pretty with its thousand stars glimmering above us – me, him and our baby Jack.

Hindi ako nakakain ng maayos kase ang laman lang ng isip ko ay aalis si Tristan at aalis si Tristan. Tinititigan ko lang siya, memorizing his features.

"Tristan..." I called out his name. Nakaupo kami sa harapan ng sasakyan. I was leaning on his chest and he's hugging me from behind, just watching the city lights that seem to be reflecting the stars above.

"Hmm?"

"I love you."

"I love you more. Thank you for making me happy on this day, baby." And then I felt him kissed my hair. Marahan niyang hinaplos ang braso ko. "But you know, you can make me happier tonight."

I looked at him, rather confused. "How?"

Pinatayo niya ako at humarap siya sa akin. He held my hands and I was taken aback when he dropped into his knees. He took something from his pocket and he showed me a red velvet box. My heart started to get wild inside my chest as he slowly opened the box. It revealed a ring. It's so beautiful. The diamond sparkled through my eyes.

"Marry me." He said and my heart almost jumped off my chest. My eyes started to water. "I know this isn't right kase aalis ko yet I'm still proposing to you. But I wanted you all for me. This will be the proof of my promise that I will come back. I want you to hold onto this, I'll come back, I promise and together we'll build our forever."

"Oh my God! Yes, Tristan, I will marry you. I'll wait for you. Of course, I'll marry you."

I started crying as he slipped the ring on my finger. He embraced me tightly and lifted me up.

Pagkauwi namin, dumiretso ako agad sa unit ko para maligo at magbihis. Siya naman pumunta muna sa unit niya para tingnan ang mga naimpake ni Ivan. I sighed. I went to the veranda to look at the sky. Hindi na talaga mapipigilan. Aalis na talaga siya. Sana tumigil ang oras. I stared at the ring he gave me and I closed my eyes after, feeling the cold breeze of the city.

That was when I felt an arm snaked around my waist from behind.

"Anong iniisip mo?" his chin rested on my shoulders. I really love the smell of his aftershave.

I shook my head. "Nothing."

"Hindi ka pa ba matutulog?"

"I don't want to sleep yet." Sa totoo lang, ayaw ko talagang matulog kase pakiramdam ko pag gising ko wala na siya. Gusto ko gising lang ako hanggang sa mag sunrise. Gusto kong tingnan lang siya hanggang sa matapos na ang gabi. I just want to hold his hands forever.

"I miss you already."

I heard him sigh. I flipped over to face him. Putting my arms around his neck, I leaned to kiss him. It was passionate at first but then all of a sudden it became more aggressive. I felt his hands on my behind to my thigh and then he lifted me. One minute, we're just in the veranda and now we're on my bed running out of breaths.

"Ella..." he called out my name, staring right through my eyes. "Tell me to stop."

"Please..." I said, almost pleading. I wanted this. I know I need this, for my own sanity. "Just take me. I'm all yours."

As if it's all that he needed to hear, he put away all his inhibitions. I let him take my all. Hope and love filled us as we became one that night.
