CHAPTER 51: Let Hell Be Damned

(Clive's POV)

I held her forehead as I stood up to put the towel and basin back to her bathroom. Her fever has already tone down though she's still quite burning. Nagsisisi tuloy ako kung bakit sinabi ko kaagad sa kanya ang alam ko. It was sudden explosion. It was too much for her.

"What?" she asked, she's obviously puzzled based on her expression. "Clive, what did you just say?"

I sighed. I don't want to lie to her. She deserves every bit of the truth. "I'm so sorry Z, I should've told you earlier but I don't want you to get hurt."

I saw how her shoulders slouched, how her eyes started to water, and how her cheeks became wet with her own tears. "Alam mo? Alam mo pala pero hindi mo man lang sinabi sa akin." She said as she started sobbing. Goddamn it! This is the reason why I don't want her to know. Seeing her cry is the last thing I wanted to see. I hated it.

"I'm sorry. I just want to protect you from the pain Z."

"You should've told me. I would get hurt either way Clive and making it a little earlier wouldn't change a thing. I'd still get hurt."

I stared at her. I sat down on her bed and brushed my fingers through her hair. I caressed her cheek and gently wiped her tears. She's sleeping yet her eyes are crying... her heart is crying.

Nasa ganoon akong posisyon nang may marinig akong kumatok sa pinto. Pumasok si Kuya Sky sa kwarto.

"How is she?" he asked me, the worry in his face and in his voice is very evident.

"Mainit parin siya Kuya pero medyo bumaba na ang lagnat niya."

Umupo si Kuya sa paanan ng ni Zoe.

"Kawawa naman ang kapatid ko. Kung pwede ko lang siyang saluhan sa sakit na nararamdan niya, gagawin ko. Kasalanan ko 'to e. Dapat hindi ko na siya pinayagan na makipagbalikan sa Tristan nay un. Sana dinala ko nalang siya dito sa London dati pa. Dapat hindi ko siya iniwan sa Pilipinas nang mag-isa." Sabi ni Kuya Sky habang tinitingnan si Zoe nang buong pagmamahal at awa. Sobrang mahal niya talaga ang kapatid niya.

He scooted closer and held Zoe's hand and he kissed the back of it. "Patawarin mo si Kuya, Princess. Wag kang mag-alala, hindi na ako papayag na makalapit pa siya sa'yo. Ilalayo na kita sa kanya."

"Wala kang kasalanan Kuya Sky." I said, interrupting his moment with his sister. "It was all Tristan's fault. Hindi ko nga maintindihan kung bakit niloko niya si Zoe. Zoe has always been faithful to him. Siguro nga may kasalanan din ako. Hindi ko nagawang gawin yung sinabi mo sa akin. Hindi ko siya naprotektahan kahit ako yung nasa tabi niya."

He gave me a slight smile. "It's okay. I'm still glad you're here for my sister. Sige na Clive, kanina mo pa siya inaalagaan. You should get some rest. I'll take care of her."

"Ayos lang ako Kuya. Ako nalang ang magbabantay sa kanya. May trabaho ka pa bukas, diba?"

"Sige. Salamat Clive, take good care of her." He said tapping my shoulders.

"I will. I'll always will." I declared and her brother left.

This is the reason why I immediately flew here in London. Nung tumawag si Kuya sa akin na nandito raw si Zoe ay di na ako nagdalawang-isip na sumunod. I have been worrying about her for days. I've never seen her nor hear anything about her. But I know something's happening. I know, somehow, Tristan's secret has already been uncovered. I already saw it coming that one of those days, she'll eventually know about it.

Lalo pa akong natuksong sumunod nung sinabi sa akin ni Kuya Sky kung anong nangyayari kay Zoe. He told me that she's really acting weird since she arrived in London. He said he is aware that Zoe has a problem but she was kind of scared to admit it to him so Kuya decided to ask me about it. I was hesitant at first to voice it out because I'm not in the right position to tell what's going on but nonetheless, I still decided to tell him what I know. He deserves to know whatever his sister is suffering into.

Narinig kong umungol si Zoe at dahan-dahang gumalaw. Her eyes are still closed. I know she's still asleep.

"Tristan..." she whispered and I scoffed.

Really Z? Pati ba naman sa pagtulog mo si Tristan parin? Niloko ka na nga't lahat, siya parin?

And then I heard her starting to sob. I reached for her face and I wiped her tear using my thumb.

"Just cry it all, cry all you want and expect me to be here wiping all those tears." I whispered as I kissed her goodnight.

The sun was already up the moment I woke up. It's searing through the curtains. I slowly rose to my feet carefully not to wake her up. I held her forehead to check if she still has a fever and a smile had drawn to my face when I realized she isn't burning anymore. I decided to go downstairs to get her breakfast ready.

I was preparing her something to eat when I heard commotions outside. Curiously, I went out.

"Ella! Ella, please! I know you're there! Let's go home now!" shouted the voice. By the means of it, I already know who it is.

"Wag kang manggulo rito Tristan kung ayaw mong ipapulis kita!" I heard Kuya Sky.

"Ilabas mo si Ella, I need to see her!"

Tristan is being held both arms by the guards. He's violently flailing his arms in attempt to free himself from the men.

"I'm afraid she doesn't want to see you." I said as soon as I reached where they are.

"You son of a bitch!" he was about to attack me but the guards are still holding him down.

"Just leave. Now." Kuya Sky admonished him in stern voice.

"No. I'll leave only when Ella is with me!" Tristan said through gritted teeth. He's obviously mad but who the hell cares? Let him go crazy. He doesn't deserve her. He only deserves to suffer.

"Get him out of here." I instructed the guards.

"No! I'm not leaving until you let me talk to her! Ella! Let's talk, baby, please! I'm here!" he started yelling again. "Ella, I know you're there! Let's go home now!"

The guards started to pull him away from the gate, outside the place. Pwersahan siya nilang sa kung saan mang impyerno siya dapat dalhin.

"Don't let that bastard be near this place again." Kuya Sky told them as soon as the guards came back.

"What's happening?" we both froze upon hearing Zoe's voice behind us. "Who's that bastard you're talking about?"

"No one. Just some street guys trying to disturb someone's house." Her brother immediately answered. "Let's go inside, you shouldn't be here. You just recovered from fever."

"Okay." She answered, obeying him.

Good thing we already made him go. But I know he's coming back again. He'll never stop until he gets her back but come heaven, come hell, I'll never let him touch even the tip of Zoe's finger. I'll never let him see even a glimpse of her again. As long as I'm here, let hell be damned.
