Their was a tall house up ahead. It looked better built than the rest of the houses in the village. This house was made of stone, aged with moss and looked abandoned. The front door was made of stone as well, carved with delicate patterns.
What really got your attention was the cyan blue crystal ball present in the center. "What's this supposed to be?" Leon stared at it, curious at the strange symbol. He's seen it with the door, and the strange crest he had to use to unlock the doors keeping the path blocked. "This symbol...sort of looks familiar." You spoke, slowly touching the smooth blue crystal.
"Familiar...how?"
"Well, remember the stone door back at the village? It had this same symbol, a butterfly? A moth maybe?" Your fingers pressed against the ball in the center, rotating it slightly so it resembled the iconic moth pattern. The whole circle ignited blue for a second, a faint click followed right after from the door. "Do you think this is the Cult's symbol?"
"Well, we won't know until we find out." The door slid open, showing what was behind it. To your surprise, it was a fancy looking bedroom. The window on the wall let in perfect lighting over the dark wood desk workspace. The walls were a pine green color, complimenting the furniture inside.
"Well this is unexpected." Leon commented, stepping inside first. You walked in, the door sliding closed behind you with a soft click. A large white clean bed was placed in the center of the room, a large cupboard closet next to it in the corner. Bookshelves occupied the other half of the room, near the desk for possible research. What really stole your attention was the large picture frame on the wall. A close up of an old man, dressed in a purple robe lined with gold. For a moment, a name popped up in your head.
The names those people back there chanted.
The low, raspy accented voice began to echo in your mind, like a mantra.
"Lord Saddler.."
"What'd you say?"
Your head turned to Leon, seeing him give you a confused expression. "Huh? Oh." You looked back at the picture. "This man in the painting." Leon approached to your side, giving the painting a long glance. "This guy must have high status dressed like that."
You huffed a little, nodding your head slowly. "I suppose. This is...a little odd, isn't it? Do you think-" You stopped yourself, putting deep thought in your words. For a moment, you wondered if Leon had any memory about the voices. Did he remember possibly being injected with something? Maybe, maybe not. You wanted to ask him so badly, but it might make you sound crazy.
"What?"
"Nothing. Forget it." You confirmed, looking away from the painting finally. "Alright then." He turned towards the door, but stopped midstep, seeing something inside a small container on an end table. He picked it up, quickly noticing the insignia on the rather large key. "What is that?" You questioned, looking over his tall shoulder slightly. He turned around, showing you the iron key in his hand. Immediately you recognized the symbol, marking in your mind that this was definitely the cult's insignia. "Keep it." You looked up at him, "We may need it later."
Leon slipped the key into the pocket of his pants, heading straight towards the door. This time, you stopped, noticing a reddish piece of paper resting on one of the bed's fluffy white pillows. You picked up the paper, slightly holding it close to read the small writing. "Hold up." You walked towards the window, letting the light make the writing easier to read. Finally, something in English.
"What's it say?" Leon stood in front of you, looking down at the note. You read for a moment, reading outloud: "As instructed by Lord Saddler, I have the agent in confinement, alive." You looked up towards Leon's gaze, "I'm guessing that's their leader." You motioned your head to the painting on the wall.
You proceeded to read out loud.
