Chapter 14

The first hand forced its way past the boards, his nails scratching against the wood in attempts to pry it off. You used the butt of your gun to slam the hand back, hearing the snap of the breaking bones.

Similar actions began happening at the other windows, large hands prying away the wooden boards to gain entry inside. You stared to fire at the wooden boards, no longer caring about their structural integrity. The bullets hit the villagers as well, knocking them back slightly against the others. Leon and Luis fired through the boards, their guns giving them much better access. Plenty of red eyed faces appeared from the windows, sending threatening glares towards any of you three.

"(Y/N)! You got grenades on you?" Leon yelled from across the room, the screams of the villagers roaring in every direction, making it slightly difficult to hear. "I have four!" You looked back for a moment, your hand going towards ayour belt to click off a red grenade. "Excellent! Toss me one!" Luis ceased firing for a moment, catching the grenade you threw at him.

Another mud crusted hand burst through the wood planks, pulling away a large piece of wood with some force. He began to pull himself inside, his other hand gripping tightly on a torch. You stepped away from the window quickly, aiming at his head as soon as he fell to the floor. You fired, sending blood and brain matter splattered around the floor. Just as you expected, a parasite bursted from the corpse, thrashing in protest. You fired again, watching the bullets pierce the bug, causing it to explode in the same manner. Another villager managed to crawl through the window, a woman with a scythe raised high above. She tossed it in your direction, causing you to turn your body towards the left. The rusty material didn't miss you entirely however, it created a rather deep scrape along the leather of your jacket. You turned back, the woman reaching your side in a flash. Her hands grabbed ahold of your shoulders, pushing you backwards with as much strength as a man.

You lost your footing, causing you to fall back to the floor, shotgun falling from your hands. Your mind clicked back to a move you learned when you were younger, seeing the perfect opportunity, you lifted your legs up to catch the woman's torso. You curled your body backwards, pushing the woman overhead and sending her backwards. She came in head first to the floor, causing her skull to break and her neck to crack awkwardly in a wrong direction.

You got on your feet fast, seeing at least four more villagers make their way inside from the same window. You grabbed your handgun and stepped back, firing at their heads and hoping their weren't parasite bursts.

"(Y/N)! Head upstairs with Ashley!"

Your shots faltered a bit. "What-why???"

"Just do what I say!"

"Not unless you give me a reason!"

You started backing up, the wallframes around the window breaking up from how many people were squeezing their way through.

A pair of hands grabbed ahold of your waist, making you stiffen up from the contact. "Relax, it's just me." Leon spoke, his hands clicking off the rest of the grenades from your belt. You eyed him, still struggling to keep good aim on the villagers. "What are you planning Leon?!"

"We're gonna blow up the crowds, go upstairs and protect Ashley, I spotted a couple climbing up the building."

"Fine, be careful!" You allowed him to take the last grenade before running towards the stairs. You spotted Ashley crouched down in a corner, her hands together across her chest. That action reminded you of Sherry for a moment, all she was missing were those blue eyes you adored.

"Look out!!!!" She screamed, pointing towards one of the windows that were being bashed with an ax. You fired at the glass, causing it to shatter. The shards buried into the villager man's face, causing him to cover his eyes with pain. He lost his footing and fell backwards within the crowd. You rushed towards the window, looking out to see other men and women attempting to crawl up the building, a few close to succeeding, but received bullets in their heads instead.
