"Parasites have mouths right?" You questioned, your hands occupied while following Leon through the path where El Gigante waited. Ashley followed on the other side of Leon, remaining too close for your liking, yet your mind was occupied with possible strategies to get rid of the enemy ras fast as possible.
He thought for a moment, remembering the past parasites and their hosts. "They have to, how else are they gonna eat?"
"That's true." You muttered. You tightened the knot of your special item, smiling at the makeshift work.
The rain finally let up, only blowing cool winds with occasional thunder and lightning strikes. The path led through a new rock trench, boarded with wooden spikes and a large bridge overhead. No sign of any villager in sight, or any Gigante beast at the moment. The area was small, meaning if the Gigante was sent in, it could be possible for him to end the three of you then and there. You just hoped your plan would work, and fast.
A large, ground shaking thud came from behind you, followed by a raged roar. Leon turned around first, seeing the size of the beast. It was larger than the last one, and just as angry. "You ready (Y/N)?" He aimed at the face, firing to distract it, allowing you to run past the beast. "Ashley! Stay as far as you can!" He ordered, firing non stop.
The beast grew incredibly irritated by the gunshots, raising his hands and attempting to swing at Leon. Leon dodged with a backflip, getting the perfect distance between him and the beast. At that moment, Leon threw a flashbang, quickly raising his other hand to cover his vision from the blast.
A faint ringing followed from the flashbang, followed by a confused shriek from the beast. El Gigante waved his hands wildly in the air, eyes tightly shut in attempts to see what was happening. He fell forward on his knees, grabbing his face in his hands with a deranged roar.
Like the last beast, this one had a similar gash across his back, yet stretching the opposite direction. The parasite didn't burst out, but the opening was the perfect opportunity for your plan. You ran ahead, jumping up on his back as best and as quickly as you could. You gripped onto the edge of the gash for support, shoving the three grenades tied together in your hand inside the wound as best as you could. Their was still no sign of any large parasite, but faint tentacles began to pop out from the skin, beginning to slash at your gloved hands. "Uh oh." You felt the beast's knees shift under him.
The beast began to stand, causing both your hands to grab on tightly to the gash. The pressure from your hands caused the skin to tare, making the wound much larger and blood ooze out. The beast didn't like that, he found himself reaching towards his back to get rid of the source of the pain.
You bit your lip, hanging on tightly as you reached into the wound again, dark blood covering your hands. You shruggled to find at least one pin within the mess, your grip slightly slipping from the blood. Your hand found a pin, and while quickly bracing your legs in front of you, you pulled the pin hard and pushed yourself off, landing with a flip to the ground. "Stay clear!!!" You shouted at Leon, stepping away quickly.
The beast caught sight of you, quickly turning towards your direction with teeth bared.
The first grenade went off, sending the other two through the same reaction. The explosion caused the chest to burst, blood splattering on the rock walls and dirt ground. El Gigante stiffened, body rigid as the grenades destroyed his insides, leaving the cavity exposed to reveal the hidden parasite. Most of its body was missing, it's body steaming from all the action. The body twitches before dying, causing the beast's eyes to roll into the back of his head.
The beast fell forward in one drop, sending a cloud of dust in all directions. Blood began to sink into the dry dirt beneath, changing the color of the ground around him. Steam began to tickle your gloved hands, making you look down to see the reaction. The blood began to evaporate, followed by a couple of bubbling reactions that burned your hands slightly, yet left them unscathed. The body began to go through the dissolving process, large bubbles bursting and splattering more blood around the areas.
