"So maybe you have nine lives. But it doesn't matter now Mr. Kennedy!" Salazar's annoying voice came through the radio, Leon pinched the bridge of his nose, incredibly annoyed by the small man blabbering over the radio.
You stood with arms crossed, staring at the radio with the most bored expression on your face.
"I've sent my right hand to dispose of you!"
"Your right hand comes off?" Leon questioned, his voice containing hints of sarcasm and faked innocence. His tone made a laugh escape your lips, which you quickly covered with your hand. "Hmph! Say whatever you please! Die you worm!!!!" Sudden scratching noises came on the other end, ending Salazar's call immediately.
Leon put the radio away with a hint of surprise. "Glad that's over." He muttered, looking around the area. The area you were currently in was some sort of cave. Rock spikes came down from the ceiling, dripping water into puddles on the muddy floors. A few feet away from you was the spiked garden patch, aged with dried blood and old corpses.
It was rather warm for a cave such as this, you wondered why.
"Where to now?" You asked, seeing him turn on his flashlight to see better in the dark. He looked up at the ceiling, seeing some bats gathered in their bundles. They started to screech at the light, alerted from the newcomers in their cave home.
"The only route I see is this ladder over here." Leon pointed the flashlight towards a rusty looking ladder right against a brick wall. "Think it'll lead us back to the castle?" You walked over first, Leon following right behind you. "We're still inside the castle, hopefully this'll take us to wherever Salazar has Ashley."
You climbed up the ladder first, mindful of how wet the bars were from all the water. You got up and stood, taking a good look at the dark path ahead. The familiar sounds of rushing water made you feel nostalgic, the mixed smells of sewer water and bloody corpses nearby didn't do so well either to calm your nerves.
"Is this supposed to be some kind of castle sewer?"
"Brings back memories, doesn't it?"
"Ha, not good ones."
Leon led the path, walking along the waters while pointing the flashlight ahead. You kept your gun in both hands, keeping your senses alert the best you could. For a while, you forgot you were in a castle rescuing the President's daughter. You were back in the sewers under Raccoon City, listening for any muffled croaking while being mindful of where you stepped, making sure not to disturb a zombie's rest by stepping on their fingers again.
Leon stopped in his steps, breaking you out of your momentary distraction. "What's wrong?" You looked at him, seeing his face twisted in concern. "I thought I heard something." He muttered, turning around to look back. Nothing was there, just the darkness and waters coming from the pipes in the walls.
"I didn't hear anything." You said, seeing him take a long look down the path.
"Hmm." He turned around, resuming the walk ahead quietly. You followed him, keeping your mind more alert just in case. The both of you reached a door up ahead, a small light sitting ontop of the door frame made the entryway look promising. Leon opened the door and allowed you in first, you looked back to see if he came in, only to find him staring back again.
"Leon." You grabbed his attention. "Their's nothing there."
"Remember what Salazar said?" He says, looking at you. The light he shined blinded you a little, making you squint. "He sent his right hand to come for us."
