Two heads bursted from the impact of the shotgun shells, the bodies dropping to the floor rather quickly. The other few didn't take notice to their brethren dying, they didn't even seem to care while stepping over their steaming corpses.

You fired your shotgun again, getting the others in their chests to back them away a little.

Leon fired his gun at their heads, killing them quickly. The only one with red robes had a parasite burst from their head, breaking open the goat skull helmet. This parasite seamed much more different than those of the villagers.
This one was centipede-like, its legs wiggling wildly with more of a buglike motion. It's body had a thick shell with an odd mix of grey and green hues. It took longer to shoot, but once it bursted, it splattered blood on the walls.

It remained, even after the body dissolved.

"This day just keeps getting better and better, no?" You looked over your shoulder at Leon and Ashley with a forced smile. Ashley returned it with a small awkward smile, while Leon just shook his head with a chuckle. You walked past the large wooden doors that led you right into a grand room of sorts.

It was much bigger than the grand hallway you had first arrived in. The ceilings were taller, the pillars of fire lighting the room were bigger. Shallow pools of water were set in the white stone ground, the same red carpeting still dressed the floor.

A second floor was up ahead, but it was inaccessible. Their were no stairs leading up to the floor, yet their were two sets of stairs leading down. It looked like some sort of puzzle.

"What's their deal with puzzles?" You looked around, examining the architecture. Leon looked at the second floor, tilting his head slightly. "Not sure. It's a castle, they're probably hiding something up there."

"Like the key?" Ashley guessed.

You and Leon looked at eachother. "Yeah." You spoke first, "That could be it."

You walked forward towards the stairs, proceeding with caution as the hallway down below seemed darker. Their was a single iron door in the downstairs hallway, leading into a small room. The small room had bright blue walls lit up by small candle stands.

A single oakwood table layed against the wall in the center of the room, two dusty red velvet cushioned chairs rested on each side, waiting for people to sit on them.

Two square platforms layed in opposite sides of the room, the plates were made of bright, shining gold.

"I think these are pressure plates." Leon spoke, staring at the same plate you had your eyes on. You bit your lip while thinking of the possible outcome these pressure plates would do.
For a moment, you thought if Leon and You could step on them and send Ashley outside to see what it would do.

But then, you remembered how everybody in the castle was after Ashley, a possible ambush could leave her vulnerable. I could go see if their's an ambush, I could fight until Leon comes back upstairs.

"Okay," you looked towards Leon and Ashley. "How about this? You and Ashley step on these plates, I'll go see what they do."

"You sure that's a good idea?" Leon questioned.

You gave him a small smile. "Sort of, I'm a little indecisive on it."

"What if their's an ambush?" Ashley spoke up, "They could attack you too." You looked at her and nodded slightly. "Yeah, I sort of thought of that too. But if their is I'll scream for you guys, alright?" You looked between the two, reading their questionable faces.

"Alright," Leon agreed with you. "Be careful." You nodded and turned around, leaving the room. You headed back upstairs with your sniper in hand. You walked to the center of the grand room and used your scope to see the area up on the second floor.
