The pieces of the animals fit perfectly into place, giving you a moment of satisfaction as the door slid open, allowing you to leave.

"You okay?" Leon asked, walking alongside you down the dirt built path.

Hesitantly, you nodded, your arms kept crossed ever since you got out of the tower where Krauser died. He saw your wounded expression, knowing you and him were good friends. He never quite understood why Krauser hated him, perhaps it was because he had you, but he didn't want to go there.

"I just wish it wasn't me who had to kill him," you spoke after a moment of contemplating your actions, replaying the scene over and over in your head. "I'm sorry, must've been hard for you."

"Thanks," You knew Leon couldn't help it, he was in a vulnerable position to do any kind of action with Krauser. It was best you did it though, you just wished you could've kept the painless promise.

"Say, did you know he liked me?"

His worried face broke into a smirk, followed by a slight chuckle. "Yep."

"What??" You gasped, stopping in your steps. "Did everyone know except me??"

"Wait, you didn't know?"

"No!" You turned away, leaving him slightly laughing behind you. Embarrassment burned in your cheeks, making you feel more stupid that you were so oblivious to Krauser's feelings.

"Don't worry about it (Y/N), not a lot of people knew, but those who were smart got the idea."

"What, you saying I'm not smart?" You turned your head, seeing him hold in more laughter, shaking his head. "No no, that's not what I meant."

"Right." You frown broke into a smile, you couldn't help yourself to it.

A loud explosion behind you broke your attention, making you jump and turn around. Behind the doors you went though, you saw the remains of the tallest towers begin to crumble down, followed by a first of heavy smoke and flames. You wondered what had happened, questioning Leon, "Were their bombs...?"

"I don't know, we better keep moving though."

"Right," you turned back around, only to be interrupted by the familiar beep of the radio. "Is that Hunnigan??" You asked, hoping to hear her familiar voice.
To your dismay, Leon shook his head, taking out the radio with one hand.

Instead, Saddler's voice spoke from the device, making your blood boil:

"So, it seems you killed Krauser too. How shall I return my appreciation?"

"What? What're you talking about? I thought he was with you."
Leon asked, crossing his arms a bit, leaving you perplexed at Saddler's words.

"Hmph, what are you talking about? Did you really think I'd trust an American?" He seemed to laugh at his own words, "To tell you the truth, I was contemplating how to get rid of him. But thanks to you, that's no longer nessesary."

"You were just using him right from the start!" Leon sounded rather angry, seeing his grip on the radio tighten.

"I must hand it to you... you've demonstrated quite a bit of promise by killing Krauser. When you're assimilation with Las Plagas is complete, I'll have you serve as my Queen's guard, since she has such a hard time obeying orders, I'll make sure you keep her in her place."

Immediately, you opened your mouth in protest, but Leon brought a hand towards you, raising a finger in silence. You shut your mouth with an irritated groan, turning away from him. "Unfortunately, I'm going to have to decline your generous offer. I have prior engagements."
