The rain poured down harder, making the run back towards the village difficult, due to slippery mud paths.

Villagers heard the commotion and raged their way towards the three of you, but you had your shotgun, and you used it graciously. Ashley remained glued behind Leon, her hands gripping onto his shoulders every chance she got. Leon didn't mind, or just didn't care, he kept shooting the villagers that drew too close.

Of course, it began to annoy you.

That jealously feeling burned brightly in your chest, you felt stupid feeling those emotions because of Ashley just hiding behind Leon. Touching him with her hands, whimpering right in his ears.

Thought she'd be more mature than this. I was more mature at her age.

The extraction point Leon was told had led through the village again and towards the barns, the rain at this point started to let up slightly, yet still poured strong with faint thunder roaring in the distance. "Ashley, I need you to hide in there for a bit."
She looked at what Leon was mentioning to, which appeared to be a rusted metal dumpster.

"Excuse me, you want me to hide in there??"

There she goes.

"Trust me, it's much safer in there until we get this place cleared out. We'll whistle for you." You told her, motioning your head towards the dumpster. She wrinkled her nose, approaching the large bin slowly. She climbed in, sitting down inside with her knees against her chest. You walked over and placed the dufflebag beside her while lowering the lid, looking down at her. "We'll try to be quick."

She looked up at you, her face showing how terrible it smelled. "Please."

You shut the lid, turning towards Leon with a nod. He turned around and walked ahead, holding onto his sniper.
"So how should we do this?" He spoke, looking through the scope towards a certain direction. You thought for a moment, scanning the area "How about we split up? You take the barn and I'll take the shacks."

"Seems a little unfair, don't you think?"

"Oh quit being a baby." You commented, walking off towards the small houses in the area. You looked around cautiously, walking towards a house that appeared empty. Once you stepped inside, you quickly spotted the bear traps on the ground, as if they were just thrown around. These villagers are more dumb than I thought.

A woman's shriek came behind you, giving you enough time to turn and dodge the large cleaver she threw at you, embedding itself by the wall. She screamed in anger and ran forward, her muddy fingers curved like claws. You fired fast, shooting her chest. She stumbled for a moment, the bullet holes on her torso leaking blood, staining her dress, but it didn't seem to affect her. She ran towards you again, getting too close for the barrel of your gun to get a proper fire on her body. You kneeled down fast, twisting your body to kick her hard against her rib cage, forcing her towards the ground. She landed in one of the bear traps, the metal teeth clamping down tightly, digging into her chest cavity. Blood spattered around like a bursted water balloon, followed by the woman's gurgled shrieks and wildly thrashing arms. Her body went limp quickly, the fresh exposed flesh steaming up as it began its usual dissolving process.

You stood slowly, watching the scene happen for a moment before picking your gun off the ground. You walked out of the house and headed towards the next one, seeing the inside appear completely dark. Open stepping inside, a man's hand grabbed ahold of your wrist, making you jump. The man's red eyes glared at you, glowing like the devil's flame as he lifted a torch up to his side, burning brightly. He prepared to swing it towards you like an ax, but you were quicker. Once again, you kneeled down, your free hand grabbing your knife and yanking it from its sheath. You swung it fast, slicing a large gash across his chest all the way up towards his jaw. He yelled and backed off quickly, his free hand going towards the gash while blood poured out to the floor.
